Series 2 of the RTD era comes to it's dramatic conclusion. Torchwood vs. Cybermen vs. Daleks. The Doctor's 3D glasses, void stuff, and Pete's World. And Rose.
So, what did you think of the finale of Series 2?

Re: Rate "Doomsday"
CyberLeader: Daleks, be warned. You have declared war upon the Cybermen.
Dalek Sec: This is not war. This is pest control!
CyberLeader: We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?
Dalek Sec: Four.
CyberLeader: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Dalek Sec: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You are superior in only one respect.
CyberLeader: What is that?
Dalek Sec: You are better at dying.
Dalek smack-talk, love that. And a very sad parting for our heroes. I'd rate Doomsday a 5. And who's that strange woman in the wedding dress?

Further thoughts.
Doomsday was great until the supposed battle between the Dalek and Cyber hordes. But as soon as that became but a background issue, it fell apart IMO. One of the biggest let downs in Who history.

Re: Rate "Doomsday"
Really, what were you expecting from cyber-Dalek battle? Two barely animate sets of objects fighting runs the risk of appearing as no more than a computer game. The real battle between the two was the bitch off. And the real story was the separation of the Doctor and Rose, so of course the battle was a background issue.

Which, to be honest, by then I couldn't give two hoots about.

Re: Rate "Doomsday"
The conclusion to series 2 saw one of the finest moments for Billie Piper and David Tennant to play. Quite a scene, and it occurs after a thoroughly satisfying conclusion to all those Cybermen and all those Daleks. As Zoltar pointed out up-thread, some great dialogue between the villains in this story.
5/5 from me.

Would be 5/5 but the whole Rose thing was just uhggg. But the Dalek trash talk and a big Cyber-Dalek fight was wonderful!

Re: Rate "Doomsday"
4/5. Doomsday had many concepts going in and they are extremely ambitious. For that alone it gets some marks. In practice unfortunately it has some substantial weaknesses. The problems that seem to bother most people come down to the change in how Rose was treated and limitations in the Dalek vs Cybermen "showdown."
The first is rooted in the point that as soon as RTD's initial series was accomplished and Eccleston (with his strong and very clear opinions on the matter) had gone, they back-pedaled somewhat on the change they had been bringing to the treatment of the female companion. I'll try to explain what I mean in that later on (long enough ramble as it is!). For now the point is that Rose had been a significant component at the heart of the new show to that point and as such, the change negatively affected the show and a lot of people's enjoyment. That weakness merits the deletion of a mark (would be worse but for Tennant and Piper's fierce performances).
The second I agree with insofar as I would have liked a bit more novelty in ideas or if not possible, a slower pace to the Dalek vs Cybermen confrontations we do have to perhaps better enjoy what there is. They feel a bit rushed and video-game in feel as compared to some other parts (in the lab where the voidmobile is being held, some ghost-Cybermen buildup and parts around Memphis ["white walls" in Egyptian...]). Both are literally blown away before we see much of how either might be responding to their initial situation. That initial situation was "Dalek for a really quick win" unless the Cybermen came up with something, so it would have been nice to see some suggestion there could be more to it. On the other hand it is still a TV budget, CGI-live-action has its challenges and I still enjoyed the battle of attitudes in the setup. So all considered it was, to me, a win.
By the way: at the heart of Doomsday, from The Doctor's perspective, is The Doctor closing a door between himself and someone significant to him. More of a Doomsday from Rose's point of view perhaps, though it may be argued to have had lasting effects on The Doctor, possibly hastening the end of that incarnation. Anyone who knows their "classic Who" catch some parallels between that and another parting of The Doctor with someone else of significance to him? The most overt being that both instances involved The Doctor closing a door...
