"Daughter of London, there is something on your back!"

The Doctor and Donna arrive at (con-man) Capt. Jack's favorite spot to pull a con: volcano day in Pompeii. There's something to all this soothsaying going on. And the Doctor, Donna and the TARDIS end up as household gods.

So what did you think of the second episode of series 4?

I might be being a bit too generous, but it's another 5/5 for me. I loved this episode. Great monsters, interesting foreshadowing of things to come, a few moral dilemmas, a water pistol, insight into the mind of a Time Lord and the telepathic effect, and some great acting. Donna helping The Doctor switch off the device remains an iconic image of her time in the TARDIS for me.

The Doctor: You were right. Sometimes I need someone... Welcome aboard.

The greatest run in Doctor Who history is broken with this run-of-the-mill story which would probably have gone the same way had the Doctor and Donna never arrived. 3/5.

Well, I found it thoroughly enjoyable. I particularly liked the tension between the Doctor and Donna over the question of intervening and/or saving someone. It proved Donna is every bit the Doctor's equal.

5/5.

Of course, when I said this " which would probably have gone the same way had the Doctor and Donna never arrived" I was thinking of Planet of the Ood.
