Rate: "The Doctor's Daughter"

Series 4 continues with it's sixth episode. Martha Jones gets TARDIS-jacked, and then ends up inventing conversation with a half-fish Hath. The Doctor gets his hand examined and the daughter of Peter Davison is the result. And Donna is left speechless.

So, what did you think of the Doctor's Daughter? Let's be hearing from you!

Donna: He saves planets, rescues civilizations, defeats terrible creatures...and runs a lot. Seriously, there is an outrageous amount of running involved.

By and large I like this episode a lot. Georgia's a lot of fun as Jenny and plays well off of David and Catherine. I've always been a fan of Nigel Terry's, so it was good to see him turn up, even if his character is a bit one-note. There's some snappy dialogue to be had, solid acting, a clockwork mouse and some enjoyable action. I enjoyed Murray's music for this story as well.

On the flipside, Martha's part in the story could've been better. A fish guy drowned. And, well, it could've been timed better coming off of another story with clones and military types in.

It didn't bother me that Jenny wasn't Susan's mom instead, though that could've been an interesting story in and of itself.

I think I'll give it a 3/5.

i thought it was a bit meh. probably my least favourite of a top class season.

An OK story with an awful last few minutes. Overall, therefore, one of the worst of the RTD era. 2/5.

So much promise but just... BAD 2/5 worst S4 episode by a mile.

Taken as whole, it had an interesting premise- generations of people being created by a cloning machine whose lifespans were apparently measured in hours- such that the passage of a week represented so many generations the arrival on the planet was already lost in history.

And while it had a few good moments, the story itself began to feel, by the half-way point, like it had dissolved into nothing but running around corridors. One of those fine moments was Tenant's speech at the climax of the story, punctuated by his holding a gun to the General's head. But that moment also proved to be the one that provided the biggest plot hole for me: in appearance, the General was easily 50 years older than all his "soldiers." Exactly how fast do these clones age? How did he get to be fifty years older than everyone else in less than a week? Certainly every clone we saw coming out of the machine appeared to be in their 20s. Once it was revealed that the story was dealing in generations of clones, rather than actual years, the General's age became something of an unexplained plot point.

I'm going to be generous and give it a 3/5.

It's a weepie and as such largely depends on the titular hero. I found Georgina Moffat a bit too CBBC, so I felt largely disappointed by The Doctor's Daughter. I liked the war-in-a-week aspect.

I'm not a big fan of Georgina Moffat, remembering that she was as bit over the top in Skins. But I do like Georgia Moffet!
