Rate "The Sea Devils"

Post by Patrick on Thu Aug 22, 2013 7:23 am

Last seen at the conclusion of The Daemons, our old friend the Master is now incarcerated in a prison where the guards seem to be immune to hypnosis.  Unfortunately, the warden of the jail isn't immune to greed, and soon, the Master has escaped.  His plan this time?  Ally himself with the Sea Devils, acquatic cousins to the Silurans.  Awaking them from eons of suspended animation, this unlikely alliance seeks to take over the Earth, succeeding with the elimination of the hairy ape where the Silurians failed.  And the Doctor is beginning to think even having the support of the British navy, there may just be no stopping the Master this time.

So, what did you think of the story that gave us our second group of monsters from the Eocene era?

Classic, and highly memorable, Pertwee. 5/5.

I regard this as one of the true classics of the Pertwee years. You have the creation of another very iconic monster for the series. You have the marvellous Roger Delgado, and that really entertaining interplay between his Master and Pertwee's Doctor. I genuinely cannot think of any faults I'd mark this one down for. 5/5 from me.
