A young journalist becomes embroiled in the Doctor's investigation of some scientists who've gone missing.  The Doctor discovers these scientists have been abducted - into the past.  A disbelieving Sarah Jane Smith at first thinks she and the Doctor have arrived at some medieval-themed recreation, until things start becoming all too real.  It seems a new alien race has arrived on Earth - Linx, a Sontaran, has crash-landed and allied himself with a local thug by the name of Irongron, and Irongron is only too happy to use Lynx's alien weaponry to terrorize the countryside.  So, the Doctor and Sarah Jane, with the help of some locals, must mount a defense, route Irongron, and then confront the ill-tempered Sontaran.

So, Season 11 begins with the arrival of, arguably, one of the Doctor's most iconic companions.  Robert Holmes gets to create an iconic new monster for the franchise.  And for the first time in Doctor Who's history, the Doctor's home planet is named.  What did you think of The Time Warrior?

It's OK, Lynx is excellent, and of course we meet the greatest companion ever - but for me pseudo-historicals have never worked brilliantly so 3/5.

I think pseudo-historicals can work if you have a significant historical event or person to hang them around, which I'm not sure The Time Warrior had. (We can pay a little visitation to this subject when we get into the Peter Davison years.)

Liz Sladen is great. As a character, it's nice to be introduced to Sontarans at their pugnatious best with Linx. I give this a 4/5.
