We have now crossed the half-way point of Series 9. Hard to believe how fast a new series of Doctor Who moves along, isn't it? At any rate, this week with episode 7, we get a bit of a follow up to the peace deal brokered between humans and Zygons in "The Day Of The Doctor" two years ago. And that follow up isn't entirely happy news. Here's your brief:

"Operation Double is a covert operation, outside of normal UNIT strictures, to resettle and rehouse an alien race, in secrecy, on planet Earth."

A long time ago, the Doctor made a deal in the Tower Of London. 20 million Zygons walk among us, in human form, living undetected in peace and harmony. But cracks are showing in this delicate peace. Humans and Zygons are disappearing. In city apartment blocks, lifts are going missing, and far below the streets of Britain, alien pods are growing in secret caverns. Unit's scientific advisor, Osgood, sends a desperate message to the Doctor - but since Osgood is long dead, how is that even possible?

____________________________

Elevators- er, lifts- going missing? People are going missing? Alien pods growing under the streets of London? And Osgood, or is it Osgood's Zygon double, is calling the Doctor in secret for help? Part 1 of another 2 part story commences this Saturday, and this is your chance to comment on it. Just remember if you're on the western side of the Atlantic, and stray into this thread before the episode has aired in North America, don't say you weren't warned that you might be spoilered. This thread will remain locked until UK transmission of episode on Saturday.

you could say "uplifting" except most of the lifts were going down.

Is everything as it seems? or is Steven playing us for suckers?

maybe next week will tell...

Sunday morning, BBC-America, as part of it's "Breakfast With Baker" programming, showed Terror of the Zygons. Between that little Scottish village and Truth Or Consequences, the Zygons do seem to prefer deserted towns. (I've been to Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico, and I don't recall it looking exactly like that.)

Brilliant episode. I give it a 4, and I can't wait to see how they resolve it this weekend.
