Do You Plan To Buy the E-Space Trilogy on DVD?
Re: The E-Space Trilogy: Coming to DVD in 2009 (Do You Plan To Buy?)
It appears the UK gets a four month head start on the release. I could understand a week or two, but four months?

There generally is a gap of a few months between the UK and US releases, one of the things that prompted me to get a Region Free player. For certain DVDs, I don't feel like waiting.Patrick wrote:It appears the UK gets a four month head start on the release. I could understand a week or two, but four months?

Think yourself lucky. Australia has an even longer wait for new releases.Patrick wrote:It appears the UK gets a four month head start on the release. I could understand a week or two, but four months?
Oh, and Zoltar's right - a region free player is definitely the way to go. Or failing that, simply seek out a region hack for your existing player - most brand makes have one.

It arrived a bit late, but my sister dropped off the E-Space Trilogy DVDs today. She told me she was waiting on them during my party on Sunday. Haven't had a chance to look at them yet, might watch one tomorrow.

I've been dodging snowstorms and sheltering from sub-freezing ambient conditions. So, that would be a 'no' on the region-free hack search: It just hasn't been at the top of my to do list since you last mentioned it, Sid.

Watched 'Full Circle' last night.
I'm not doing that again.

I bought The New Beginnings DVDs for a tenner today. Generally I prefer the E-Space stories (I think Full Circle is charming... are people going to chase me out of wrinklydom with pitch-forks?) but money dictates...

I'll definitely buy it, but as always I have to wait for it to go on sale. Full price retail is always too much to pay.

Re: The E-Space Trilogy: Coming to DVD in 2009 (Do You Plan To Buy?)
Okay, so I finally broke down and bought the E-Space trilogy today. I'm currently watching the special features on Full Circle, and there are two random bits of trivia I learned for the first time.
First, the actor who played Varsh, Richard Willis, ended up marrying the actress who played Keara, June Page. Apparently, being an 'outler' is good for relationships.
Second, Bernard Padden, who played Tylos, was actually a finalist for the part of Adric. He didn't get it because he had a northern accent. Apparently, in John Nathan Turner's Season 18, lots of planets did not have a north.

Re: The E-Space Trilogy: Coming to DVD in 2009 (Do You Plan To Buy?)
Full Circle is the first DW I have distinct memories of watching I've got the trilogy, but I'm waiting for a suitable time to sit down with my lad and a shed-load of popcorn to watch it.
Re: The E-Space Trilogy: Coming to DVD in 2009 (Do You Plan To Buy?)
Lucy,
Do make time to watch the special features on the discs, too. Some fascinating stuff about the production of each of the three stories gets revealed. Who knew Terrance Dicks and Chris Bidmead didn't get along? Who knew Paul Joyce was actually fired as director during the making of Warrior's Gate? Lots of interesting trinkets of trivia in there.

I tend to watch the extras before the story. Haven't got this Box Set on my list to buy for a long time yet, btw.

It's not a bad set, but the extras aren't anything particularly special.
