Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
Hmmm... maybe....
The Next Doctor had greater emotional depth, but that went hand in hand with greater lashings of saccharine syrupy dreadfulness.
So it's about 50/50, I reckon.

If only one of the characters had the depth of the Morrisey Doctor.

Desperately average. Like a kind of Frankenstein's Monster, just stitched together from scavenged bits of other things - such as Pitch Black and Mission: Impossible, to name but two. Basically, an originality-free zone from start to finish. It was a Saturday night no-brainer aimed squarely at the lowest common denominator. As such, it did its job - but I wasn't impressed, as you can no doubt tell.

Quite liked it. Very well done. The Next Doctor was a different type of episode and I quite liked it too.

Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
It's a fun episode, with a lighter tone and atmosphere than the Next Doctor--except the prophecy at the end, that's darker. But the FLYING BUS=MEGA SQUEEE !!!
and when the Doctor makes funny noises with his mouth to communicate with the tritovore! I found that hilarious XD

Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
That was actually pretty useful, because it confirms that the Doctor doesn't actually need the Tardis to speak in alien languages.badwolf59 wrote:...and when the Doctor makes funny noises with his mouth to communicate with the tritovore! I found that hilarious XD

True, true and he has mentioned frequently, in the new series how versed he is in alien languages.
