Or to give its full title "Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner in conversation with Caitlin Moran".

I was fortunate enough to attend this event at BAFTA tonight. Here are a few snippets that came out....

RTD approached the BBC about bringing back Doctor Who in both 1999 (Doctor Who 2000) and 2002. However neither process went beyond one meeting.

The TARDIS alongside the taxi on the motorway scene was something RTD had wanted to do since he was a child. His family used to drive from Swansea to Spain on holiday, and to help pass the time he'd imagine the TARDIS was travelling next to them.

One of their key aims has been to ensure that the programme remains the number 1 priority on everyone's list throughout the massive structure of the BBC.

When they were part funding the first series, CBC in Canada asked if they could dub Eccles with a Canadian actor. Julie had to fly to Toronto to tell them no very firmly!!!

Both think a movie will eventually happen.

I asked what story they wished they had made. Julie said either a live episode or a musical one. Russell said (slightly tongue in cheek) either Bethlehem at Christmas for the birth of Jesus or (a lot more tongue in cheek) the frozen head of Walt Disney trying to take over the world!!

Lizo was 2 seats away from me - I bet you don't get stuff like this on the BBC Website from him. Laughing

RTD's not the father, is he?

I don't know-- first Eve Myles and now Julie Gardner: Queer As Folk was just a front, y'know.

Razz

We should start a rumor at GB that RTD secretly has a 'straight agenda,' with Eve and Julie being his couple of victims.

One question came from a woman who had been at High School with RTD. She asked him about acting, and if he remembered being in School productions, especially "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Russell happily came out with the line "I've seen a lot of bottom's in my time". Very Happy
