I bet Lynda plays Diana's mother.

There is a remarkably good possibility that you are correct, so I will pass up on that little wager.

It is said that after seeing here in the Comic Collector Sting episode of Hustle, her co-star Robert Vaughn used his Hollywood connections to get her an audition for the proposed movie, around about the time Joss Whedon was connected with the project. She was apparently very close to getting the gig, but when the movie returned to Production Hell, it all fell through.

My God, some of the absolute bile and evil, spiteful narrow-minded misogynistic hatred being spewed at poor Adrianne Palicki by Wonder Woman fans, just for being cast as their idol is totally appalling.

God, and I thought Who fans could be sad and bitchy.

That's a shame. I can't say I'm interested in the show, but I can't see any reason to be critical of Adrianne. I'm sure she'll do fine playing this version of the character. The thing is, many fans are already negative towards the show, everyone involved is going to get hit by the backlash.

I was amazed to be perfectly frank. Even by fan standards, WW's crew seem to be more like a collection of rabid zealots with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement.

I mean honestly, Lynda Carter is without a shadow of a doubt a very lovely and warm woman. But holding her up as a shining paragon of great acting skill? Even she herself would be the first person to laugh at that notion.

I've seen the bad WW fans in action before, they can indeed be nasty. Lynda said she congratulated Adrianne, did she not? Clearly she's not looking for her fans to lash out at Adrianne.

She did indeed congratulate her successor - and very graciously too. The 'fans' - and I used that term damned loosely, just seem to have decided that they know better when it comes to her than she does herself.

Let's remember back to 2005-06: the selection of blond Daniel Craig to play James Bond did not go down well within Bond-nation. I recall there was even a website set up: JamesBondIsNotBlond.com or FireDaniel.com (or something equally un-pithy.) By the end credits of Casino Royale, only a handful of diehards believed that.

If the series goes forward and Ms. Palicki handles the job well, fandom will eventually quiet down. So I'm guessing the advice she's probably getting right now is to pay no attention to fandom.

Very possibly. Although being a comic fan and collector herself it must be damned hard for her not to at least peek. Hell, perhaps she's one of those fans posting that she herself isn't fit for the role! Very Happy

From the sounds of the dialogue on this audition tape, they are going with the modern trousers, jacket and bustier costume, and not the tradition red, gold and blue swimsuit. And what sort of joyless berk is the chap who wrote the accompanying article.

They'll probably go with something very like her new comic book costume - which is...

As for the joyless article writing berk. Par for the course, unfortunately.

Good, what a dull costume. Even my limited artistic skills can improve that. See below.

And a major piece of casting news: Elizabeth Hurley To Play Veronica Cale In Wonder Woman.

Here’s a big name for Wonder Woman: Elizabeth Hurley will be playing Diana’s nemesis, Veronica Cale, in the Wonder Woman pilot.

Here’s what Hurley posted tonight on Twitter:

Thrilled to be doing the NBC pilot Wonder Woman. I’ll be playing the evil villain. Can’t wait.

Cale runs a company that is doing experiments on people… and she and Diana aren’t very big fans of one another.

Well, I think it's safe to say nobody saw that particular piece of casting coming.

OK, so the first bit of duff news to come from the new Wonder Woman. Liz Hurley annoys. I think she is the most irritating celebrity around. When she was an item with Hugh Grant it was a critical mass of annoyance.

I'm actually neutral on this piece of casting news. Hurley can be a capable light comedy actress given the right material and direction - I think it's all going to come down to how Kelley intends to handle the character of Veronica Cale.

It is interesting. If there's one thing that can be said for Kelley, it's that he has a rather uncanny knack when it comes to casting. So I'm more than willing to give Liz the benefit of the doubt.

Ain't gone down well with Wonder Woman fandom though. Much gashing of teeth and rending of garments over the fact that it's "Stunt" casting/she isn't blond/she isn't from Texas/the sky is falling/the world is doomed/the show has jumped the shark even before the pilot has been aired, etc. Sound familiar?
