Doctor Who scene at the NTA's
Okay, so shock horror - neither Who nor Matt Smith won an NTA. But much better than that, this great little sketch opened the show. But is it canon?

That little question will most probably be the stuff of fan debate for many decades to come.

The love affair between the British public and Doctor Who is over. A big thumbs down to Moffat and his timey-wimey hunchback Dalek agenda.

Quiet. Out with the pitchforks and burning brands and off to BBC Wales we go for a massive bonfire topped by a Wicker-Moffat!Rich Flair wrote:The love affair between the British public and Doctor Who is over. A big thumbs down to Moffat and his timey-wimey hunchback Dalek agenda.

Yes indeed. I think that the only way The Moff could redeem himself in the eyes of the nation is to bring back Ianto,

Re: Doctor Who scene at the NTA's
Very true. I'm looking forward to the next series of Dr Who being produced and written by the Waterloo Road team and starring David Jason as the Doctor and Lacey Turner as his companion. Truly the NTV Awards are the arbiters of taste everywhere and should be used as a guide on how to make popular tv in future.Rich Flair wrote:The love affair between the British public and Doctor Who is over. Which of the Waterloo Road staff would make the best Doctor Who? I'm going for the one that has the eagle-like face of Pete Postlethwaite, the northern accent of Pete Postlethwaite and the acting ability of a dead twig.

He sounds ideal. Sack Smithy and sign him up now! Oh, and while we're about it we might as well sack Moffat as well and give his job to the head honcho of Waterloo Road.

Re: Doctor Who scene at the NTA's
I do sometimes think that people who try to make everything related to Doctor Who fit into "The Canon" are missing the point somewhat. A Canon is a logical body of work from a particular source. Some things are parodies of or homages to a particular source, and will never be Canon because they were never meant to be. This sketch is a homage to Doctor Who and is in no way supposed to be part of the ongoing story.

Re: Doctor Who scene at the NTA's
Oh, you know what some people are like, Cat. Each and every teeny-tiny little piece just has to be forced into some great, big sprawling all-encompassing tapestry. It doesn't matter if those pieces have nothing whatsoever to do with this imaginary tapestry - in they must go all the same. The Browncoat Cat wrote:I do sometimes think that people who try to make everything related to Doctor Who fit into "The Canon" are missing the point somewhat. Re: Doctor Who scene at the NTA's
The sketch is clearly canon to that doubtless now cancelled TV series and, under normal circumstances, I would have loved it... but, tragically, I and the rest of the known universe no longer love Doctor Who.

Quite right too. A show without an award should be cancelled immediately...

Of course. Awards shows are never wrong and being nominated surely doesn't, in and of itself, represent the series being honored in any way. It's the end and we're not prepared for it in the slightest.Sid Seadevil wrote:Quite right too. A show without an award should be cancelled immediately...

Absolutely. But on the upside, at least Frank's book will serve as the final word upon the series now it's as good as gone and forgotten.Zoltar wrote:Of course. Re: Doctor Who scene at the NTA's
I really would like to see Lacey Turner cast as the next companion. She was brilliant in Being Human and was often the only thing worth watching in an episode of EastEnders.Lee Carey wrote: I'm looking forward to the next series of Dr Who being produced and written by the Waterloo Road team and starring David Jason as the Doctor and Lacey Turner as his companion.
Re: Doctor Who scene at the NTA's
Actually I've been impressed by her more than once myself in the past. It wouldn't surprise me to see her appear in in some capacity Who at some point. The Browncoat Cat wrote:I really would like to see Lacey Turner cast as the next companion. She's one of the worst actresses that I've had the misfortune of watching, and I would refuse to watch an episode of Doctor Who with her in.

Who doesn't watch Waterloo Road? I think they should screen it in that dead slot on a Saturday evening around 6.30 -7.00pm. After all, it's not like they ever have anything important taking up that space.Zoltar wrote:I dunno, I'm watching Waterloo Road now.

Re: Doctor Who scene at the NTA's
That's the last straw! The British National Television Awards, the obvious deciders of all things tasteful and worthy, sees fit not to award Doctor... whatshisname... an award, and this should serve as proof that the team making the show should be ousted immediately! I mean, what's the point of a show that can't even win a great big shiny statuette?
And, to add insult to injury, they give us this risible, daft clip. I mean, where does it fit in? Is it between Sarah Jane Adventures' "Death of the Doctor" and "A Christmas Carol?" Or is it between Christmas Carol and Series 6? Amanda Holden in charge of things... HA! Break the fourth wall is what they did, and they've ruined the show forever.
Uncool! 0/10!
