The Sweeney
I was a huge fan of this in the mid/late 70's, and continue to be to this day. Unusually, I actually managed to actually catch an episode on ITV4 last night, and it was awesome 10/10.
"Thou Shalt Not Kill" was the final episode of series 2, and originally broadcast in November 1975. It was a wonderful siege story, made all the better by the fact that the brilliant Douglas Camfield was directing. And it even featured Harriet "Bettan" Philpin.
Anyone else a fan of The Sweeney?

As a long-time lurker on this thread, I'd like to pop my head out from under the parapet and say that I used to like it, but haven't seen any in years.

I think it stand up better now than it did 15 years ago. Rewatched some of the first movie for research purposes last night (that's why I bumped the thread up). Great stuff.

Re: The Sweeney
I don't think I've ever seen a full episode. Remember watching the title sequence on I Love The 70s. It was a very good title sequence.

Re: The Sweeney
Several years ago a friend got me a couple of VHS volumes of The Sweeney for my birthday and, after some initial nostalgia-preservation worries (has anyone rewatched The Professionals, for instance? F***ing rubbish!), I dived in. And it was just as good as I remember it being, if not better. Absolutely love it.
The same friend bought me the complete series (the 'vanilla' box-set) a couple of years ago, too. It turns out some telly of that era is still ace, even now, after all...

Re: The Sweeney
I haven't watched The Professionals since the early 1990s when I watched some on LSD. It was excrutiating - the dialogue and acting were super-painful.

Re: The Sweeney
I remember loving The Professionals at the time, too. Kids are idiots*.
Oh, and, for God's sake, NEVER rewatch Airwolf...

Re: The Sweeney
Yes, they've spent several months making a new film. Ray Winstone as Regan and Plan B as Carter. I'm not one to prejudge, but reckon it'll be horrible.
Still enjoying watching the occasional episode on ITV4.
