What are the various wrinklies thoughts on the beeb's "How Robin Hood should have been" show?

It's vastly improving, IMO, and is now firmly filed under 'must watch', I will also add that Katie McGrath is currently acting the lot of 'em off the set

This was a bit of a "meh" show for a lot of its run, but yesterday's episode took me completely off guard - it was great! Some top notch acting from Tony Head and Richard Wilson, and some interesting developments. Looking forward to next week - is next week the finale?

Next week's is episode 10 of 13 - I wonder if there'll be an end of season cliffhanger?

I've been enjoying it - good fun Saturday evening viewing, and I like the way they've played around with the mythology so you can't really predict what way the story's going to go in the future. I think all the cast are doing a good job - even Bradley James, who I've seen getting a bit of stick, but playing Arthur as something other than a lead role is always going to be tricky. My only criticism is that Morgana and Gwen don't get much to do, but the writeup suggests that they've got more prominent roles this week.

But then, I like Robin Hood, so what do I know?

I find it watchable, but not all that special, to be honest. Too many of the plots have been well-nigh identical, for one thing; and I don't find the character of Merlin himself terribly engaging, either. I think the best episode was probably the one with Julian Rhind-Tutt in it: although this too was basically on familiar lines, the Uther/Gaius aspects lifted it somewhat above the average. Having persevered thus far, I'll keep watching for the rest of this season at least, in the hope that things move up a gear as we approach the finale.

Some weeks are better than others, to be certain. I rather enjoyed the most recent episode and I'm looking forward to the former Doctor Bashir making an appearance in the next.

I was right! And I'm guessing he's next series' Big Bad too. Very Happy

Anyway, great finale. Looking forward to next year, where I'm guessing Merlin and Arthur come out to Uther. (Come on, their friendship's slashier than Torchwood)
