Re: BBC America Update: Specials Transmission
That's an excellent point. Would I be correct in thinking that this will be the first time both sides of the Atlantic have basically been in transmission synch?

During the transmission of Series 4, we were only about three weeks behind the UK. That, I think, was the closest in synch we've ever been.

Which really isn't that bad at all, actually.Patrick wrote:During the transmission of Series 4, we were only about three weeks behind the UK. That, I think, was the closest in synch we've ever been.
Beats waiting six months to a year to catch-up.

And it's been six months since The Next Doctor. I've been wondering when BBC America would get it. Since it was shown on Christmas, they've replayed the entirety of Series 4 and Torchwood Series 2. They're currently in the middle of Primeval Series 3.

You're being spoilt with televisual riches then. Although it's a shame about Primeval.Patrick wrote:And it's been six months since The Next Doctor. I've been wondering when BBC America would get it. When Primeval finishes, I believe they're going to start showing Being Human.

Have to 'fess up to not having watched Being Human, but Ginger Ninja informed me that it was very good, especially the final episode.
Am I right in thinking it's going to get a BBC Twe screening at some stage?

I can't answer the BBC Two question, but over here, BBC America are heavily promoting what they're calling their HD-Summer line up:
Primeval
Torchwood: Children of Earth
Being Human
Gordon Ramsey's F-Word
The Apprentice UK
And all in High Definition.

Yes it is, I believe. In fact, fully expect the series to be poached from BBC Three by Two in the not to distant future. The Co=Ordinator wrote:Have to 'fess up to not having watched Being Human, but Ginger Ninja informed me that it was very good, especially the final episode.

I don't get BBC America (HD or otherwise) but do I understand correctly that the HD channel will itself premiere on the first night of Children of Earth?Patrick wrote:I can't answer the BBC Two question, but over here, BBC America are heavily promoting what they're calling their HD-Summer line up...

Actually, I don't have the HD channel, so I can't confirm that, Warped. But on their SD channel, they've been heavily advertising that the HD broadcast would begin this year. For all I know, it may already be up and running.

I suppose there might have been some delay caused by whether Sci-Fi/Syfy/Siffy/whatever wanted to have first crack at it.Patrick wrote:And it's been six months since The Next Doctor. I've been wondering when BBC America would get it.

Zolty, our "friends" at Sci-Fi have been way beyond the curve since Series 3. They completely lost the rights to air Series 4. Right now, they're airing Series 1 of Primeval.
And this is mainly because with the retirement of both Battlestar Galactica and Stargate: Atlantis, they have no new series in the works. Well, I say no new series. Eureka and that Area 51 thing... like I said, no new series.

Oh, I know. My comment was that they seemed to take their sweet time deciding whether they wanted the Specials, which they do not.Patrick wrote:Zolty, our "friends" at Sci-Fi have been way beyond the curve since Series 3. Do you mean "Warehouse 13" or whatever it's called?

Yes. It looks awful. Sci-Fi attempting to Torchwood, attempting to do CSI. I shudder at the thought.

Re: BBC America Update: Specials Transmission
Attempting to do X-Files, attempting to set it in the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, yep. I will set a timer for it though, since it would be nice if it didn't suck, but my expectations are officially set low.Patrick wrote:Yes. It looks awful.
