Sharpe's Thread
Because Sheringham asked so nicely.
I haven't had time to Watch Sharpe's Peil yet - But I'm certainly looking forward to it.

Re: Sharpe's Thread
This is a thread for discussing Sharpe - either the books or the telly. I put it in the telly section because I am guessing that the telly versions will have more fans here than the books (at the moment). I may, of course, be wrong.
So, anyway - Sharpe. Sean Bean's finest hour? I'd say so. My own favourite episodes are the second series trio - the one with Badajoz, the one with Theresa dying, and the one with the Borg queen. Although I do have a particular fondness for the one with Candide too, even though that is totally different to the book (and Sharpe's Sword is one of my favourite of the books).

Re: Sharpe's Thread
I'd agree - Shape has been Bean's consistently finest televisual hour. Even when the stories themselves have suffered from wonky scripting or a noticeable problem with budget, Bean's succeeded in investing the character with a power, dignity and sense of iconicness that transcends the limitations he's had to work within.sheringham wrote:So, anyway - Sharpe. I'm actually tempted to pull my boxset down from the shelf and rewatch the entire series in chronological order.

I know the feeling. I'm tempted to watch some too, and see what episodes I may have yet to catch up on. Great series, I've always been a fan of Sean.Sid Seadevil wrote:I'm actually tempted to pull my boxset down from the shelf and rewatch the entire series in chronological order.

Re: Sharpe's Thread
Sharpe was advertised last week on "Masterpiece Theater". Also, the last Sharpe movie is coming out on DVD in R1 in April. All good news as far as I'm concerned!
