Adoration of Morrissey and The Smiths...
I love the guy's wit, outlook, sense of humour, controversy, style and above all music.
For me he is one of the last Great Rock/Pop Icons. He is virtually a living archetype.
Never a dull moment. And spell-binding in concert!
Who's with me???

My sister would be with you. Maybe not these days, but back when it was all going on she was a serious fan. Me, I like him quite a lot, and I love listening to the old familiar tunes.....but I wouldn't describe myself as a fan in the way you or the Arn are. Not when you compare my enthusiasm to that I have for PSB or Stingypoos. But I do love the music.

Even as I type, there's panic in the streets of London.

Re: Adoration of Morrissey and The Smiths...
Adoration would be the right word for me. I, quite literally, would not be typing this today without the music of Morrissey and The Smiths.
Any Manc-based chaps know if the Smiths night at The Star and Garter is still running? I used to enjoy that...

The Smiths do the two things I generally look for in a musical experience - interesting lyrics and excellent guitar.

I only got into them about 7 years ago and hooked ever since.Dave Webb wrote:The Smiths do the two things I generally look for in a musical experience - interesting lyrics and excellent guitar.
I guess I just wasnt ready to understand the sheer brilliance of them when I was a teenager.....also I hated the whole jump on the bandwagon thing.
But my god the utter inversion of the most inncredible lyrics and stunning layered melodies that hooked me. There is a light that never goes out is still a favorite to this day.
Plus If Im honest the Sisters Of Mercy had cracking little goth chicks that I was desperatly trying to get to date, so that was my main impetus when I had all those raging hormones....
