The Merchandise that all True Whovians Must Own

To be a serious, dedicated fan rather than a 'casual' or 'new' fan, I'd say that the following are essential:

1) BBV's 'Auton' trilogy,
2) The VHS or DVD of 'Who on Earth is Tom Baker'
3) A Complete set of the annuals of the classic series era
4) The 'P.R.O.B.E' series on VHS or DVD,
5) Howe, Stammers & Walkers' three books on the 60s, 70s & 80s.
6) 'The Transcendental Toybox' by Howe & Blumberg
7) 'Blue Box Boy' by Matthew Waterhouse
All issues of 'Fanwnak' & 'Bandril'
9) A VHS copy of the 'Silver Nemesis' extended version
10) A complete set of the 1990s Doctor Who Yearbooks

The DVD is not the extended version.

I don't think extending Silver Nemesis is going to make it any better.

According to spara's list I am too (though I do own the Auton trilogy on VHS - in fact, my video player stopped working just after I copied them to the DVD player's hard drive...)

Spara, I trust you own the tenth and twentieth anniversary Radio Times specials, The Making of Doctor WHo by Malcolm Hulke and Terrance Dicks and The Dalek Pocketbook and Space-Travellers Guide. All serious fans must.

I have to admit to having given away various Who DVDs and books: I had to bite the bullet, while there was still space to move.

When my children were small and Doctor Who was off air (one rather assumed for good) I gave away my complete set of Target novels. They were just sitting in a cupboard (that space issue you mention) and others got the pleasure of them rather than them just mouldering away and me never looking at them again. I really should get rid of books of all sorts but I don't find that easy...

Same here. My classic stuff went to a younger teacher; the new Who has gone to a senior pupil.
