Favourite wastes of time
OK, how about a thread for sharing those interesting pieces of the web that stimulate the mind things that provide a nice distraction from doing any actual work.
I'm currently addicted to Desktop Tower Defence which is pleasingly infuriating.

3 years on and I'm still playing Urban Dead. Browser-based zombie-killing - there's nothing quite like it.

You're too young to be told, Sidney, so put it far from your mind and return to your loafing. I'm sure you can stand my envy. I wish I had the lifestyle of yourself and Squire Hicks. Alas, I am only an humble peasant, a toil in the fields of the nice Mr. Capitalism.
Re: Favourite wastes of time
Nice Mr. Capitalism has fields? I thought he only made those amusing little silent films where he plays a slightly bittersweet clown.Dave Webb wrote:You're too young to be told, Sidney, so put it far from your mind and return to your loafing. You think this level of work avoidance is easy?
Re: Favourite wastes of time
I know. These wageslave toilers appear to think we're leading the life of Reilly - they had no idea just how hard voiding what they have to do is.Doc Filth wrote:You think this level of work avoidance is easy?

Re: Favourite wastes of time
Bugger! I've just finished the utterly wonderful and superb The Writer's Tale - and now find myself in direly urgent need of a new excuse to do nothing.
It doesn't have to be a valid excuse - any old tat will do. I have a gift for making any old tat sound like a perfectly reasonable excuse. Well, as long as you don't scrutinise it too closely...

Read the complete works of Shakespeare. That'll fill up the time nicely.

Did that years ago. His plots are too familiar - verging on the secondhand.Lucy McGough wrote:Read the complete works of Shakespeare. That'll fill up the time nicely.

Kongregate, a games website with many amusing and infuriating games for you to play. Some of them are fiendish, some are awful.

If you have ever read or been a member of a volatile forum, this site might be amusing to pass the time and might even get a chuckle or two:

I think "Tireless Rebutter" is my fave, and I have certainly seen quite a few in action on certain forums.TOMSPY77 wrote:If you have ever read or been a member of a volatile forum, this site might be amusing to pass the time and might even get a chuckle or two:

Half of the usual suspects from OG/DWF ended up being name-checked.

Re: Favourite wastes of time
Tell me about it, I got emailed that link when I was on the Sci-FI Doctor Who forums in the rough and tumble days, when a man named Bluebox wanted to slap any American fan silly and the board was an unmoderated mess of closed threads and deleted posts.

Re: Favourite wastes of time
Discovered this place last night after someone in PT linked it.
The Hero Factory.
You can build your own hero. Like this fine fellow, The Sporked Spatula! Midnight Fridge Raider of Justice!
And the inevitable female spin-off character, Sporkette.
And the Pre-Crisis 70s version of Sporky that's no longer in continuity...
