Re: Ashes to Ashes
An excellent start to series 2. Some truly brilliant dialogue and a couple of very intruiging new plot strands.

"You're playing with them"
"No, that's just the way I'm standing"
Classic line. Not sure I'm liking the Mason story line though.

Re: Ashes to Ashes
It was the right kind of cheesy, and a relief after all the dark, grim stuff in the previous fifty minutes.
Re: Ashes to Ashes
Having finally watched episode 2, I thought it was superb, and totally agree with Major-Minor's rating.
Just the best line!

Re: Ashes to Ashes
Loving this series so far. Much more confident than last series, even though I enjoyed that I do think it was an acquired taste for some folk, and the writing and acting is much tighter now.
The first two episodes were very entertaining and I've enjoyed the new sub-plots they've introduced. The weakest so far has been the third episode, which although it had its highlights and great dialogue, didn't do enough to move the sub-plots along and attempted some rather dodgy moralising on the 'animal rights' issues. That said I thought David Bradley as Robin was utterly compelling and his scenes with Keeley were superb.
Next weeks looks very interesting as they bring back newspaper reporter Jackie Queen from the LoM series. Apparently we learn a bit more about what happened to Sam in this one. I wonder how Gene is going to reverse his transfer to Plymouth?
Reviews of A2A Series 1 and 2 are of course on the ol' bloggity blog. Enjoy!

Re: Ashes to Ashes
I agree very much with what Frank said about episodes 3.
It seems that in Spring 1982, the autumn leaves were falling. An OK episode, but not as good as the first two, with too many annoying little continuity things that kept bugging me. Clear juxtaposition with modern Islamic terrorism was well made though.

Re: Ashes to Ashes
That would be because of the Great Tree Lurgy of '82. Luckily, it was nipped in the bud (as it were) before it could spread north of London...The Co=Ordinator wrote:

Re: Ashes to Ashes
This series has got better and better. I'd even go as far to call it better than LOM, the last episode had for more wow in it than the parent series.

I wonder if that's a bit too spoilery. Or if there's more to it than we think.

My theory is that:
That could explain how he knows so much.

Re: Ashes to Ashes
That was in my Daily Telegraph TV guide. I was very disappointed. They should know better than to post potential spoilers.Kazters wrote:massive spoiler pic on the ashes website, click on the ep guide for ep 8! it ruined my theory
