You're right, their response does make interesting reading.
Re: Apple iPhone
Congratulations on your new prize, Lucy.
Envy here. Someday when I can afford the data plans (plural, 'cause if I get one Konstantin would have to have one too...) we might do it.

Glad it's arrived Lucy.
I don't *do* technology and won't even be contemplating such a clever device.

Yeah, but the technology still isn't, shall we say, my strong point.

He's a Cyberman, not an iBerman. He's not compatible with Apple. Besides, don't they have their own wireless network or something?Patrick wrote:The Co=Ordinator wrote:Yeah, but the technology still isn't, shall we say, my strong point.

Re: Apple iPhone
Upgrade time again, and I now have a brand spanking new T-Mobile G2 Touch. A very cool piece of kit. It has built in GPS and it works reasonably well with Googlemaps so, that makes me happy.

So...Can you use it to post on Outpost Wrinkly, and so on?
I have a vested interest: I'm with T-Mobile, and I'm considering requesting an upgrade.

Indeed you can. This reply has been sent from my G2.Aspadistra wrote:The Browncoat Cat wrote:Upgrade time again, and I now have a brand spanking new T-Mobile G2 Touch. A very cool piece of kit. It has built in GPS and it works reasonably well with Googlemaps so, that makes me happy.

The GUI is almost identical to the iPhone. Not surprising really, Android and MAC OS are both basically BSD Unix under the bonnet.
If you do get a G2 with your next upgrade, I recommend that you set up the widget icons on your phone's home screen so that you can toggle the GPS and 3G on only when you need them, to extend battery life beyond a couple of hours. Even then, it is still. need to plug it in each night.

Also, ditch the default web-browser, its pony, and install the Dolphin Browser from the Android Market.Aspadistra wrote:Thank you very much for that.

Pardon the stupidity...is that straightforward to do, straight to the phone, or do I have to hook it to a P.C. ? (Asking, cos I have an IMac, and sometimes it's not possible to link other gizmos to it.)

If you don't, you should.
Actually, I'm thinking of buying an iMac when I'm rich enough.

The G2 comes with a number of basic applications, including an application loader called the Android Market. It allows you to search for all sorts of interesting stuff to run on the G2 (HTC Hero). No need to plug it into a PC, unless you want to have a look what is on the SD Card.
I love my G2, one of the best technotoys I have ever had.
