Leslie Neilsen 1926-2010

Although he came to the profession of acting as a serious actor (he played the captain of an overturned ship in The Poseidon Adventure in 1972), he was best known to audiences for his deadpan comedic timing in movies like Airplane and the Naked Gun series.

Sadly, Leslie Neilsen has passed away due to complications from pneumonia. He was 84, and he will be missed.

Indeed. His delivery was perfect. Ever since "Airplane" I've found it impossible to watch Neilsen as the Captain in "The Poseidon Adventure" with a straight face. RIP Leslie.

I'll miss him. It was always great to see him turn up in a film, sometimes he was the only good thing in the movies he appeared in. And he seemed like a really nice guy too. RIP.

An absolutely top bloke, and very funny. Despite the sadness of the news, I've chuckled a lot the last couple of days reading quotes from Airplane!, Naked Gun and Police Squad! in particular. A tremendous actor and comedian.
