The Diary of Anne Frank
Now surely the denizens of Seadevil Towers haven't been the only ones watching this superb new adaptation on BBC1 at 7.00pm stripped across this week.
It's been a wonderful piece of television; with all concerned giving outstanding performances - particularly Ellie Kendrick as the eponymous Anne, and especially Tamsin Greig as her mother Edith, who gives a near totally silent masterclass in performance via facial expressions.
Shame on you if you've missed it - it's BBC drama at its best.

Oh and the obligatory Who connections.... it has Lesley Sharpe in it... who also gives an excellent performance.
*nB, we Seadevils don't always agree - anyone who has been to a Drinkly with us can testify to that... so if we both like it - it must be good!

Ans speaking of Who connections - there's also Ron "Mister Magpie" Cook, and an almost unrecognisable Felicity Jones as Anne's older sister, Margot.Kate Seadevil wrote:Oh and the obligatory Who connections.... it has Lesley Sharpe in it... who also gives an excellent performance.

Now that is a glowing example of public service broadcasting at its very best.
A superb production. A genuine triumph for all concerned.

don't forget Tamsin Greig as Ann's mother, stoic and brave, gosh it's horrible to think of , the real people going because of racism, nasty, nasty racism. we have it so much easier now.

Oh, Tamsin Greig's performance was a revelation. And yes, we have it infinitely easier now...and the worst thing is we don't even realise what it is that we have that we should be treasuring so highly.millerqueen wrote:don't forget Tamsin Greig as Ann's mother, stoic and brave, gosh it's horrible to think of , the real people going because of racism, nasty, nasty racism. we have it so much easier now.
