Howdy pardner. The Doctor has a toothache, but that's gonna lead to one hell of a shoot out. Your thoughts please on this foray into the Wild West.

Top stuff. 5/5. I like the song. Doctor Who Weekly brainwashed us into thinking it was terrible - how wrong they were!

Re: Rate "The Gunfighters"
In the 70's it was a *given* that The Gunfighters had the lowest ever ratings for Doctor Who. That was a load of old bollocks as well.

Who is responsible for this outrageous propaganda? Jeremy Bentham? (not the mummified body at UCL, the other one).

Well, I loved this one, too. And I live in the American west. And I've been to the real OK Corral.
4/5.

Aye, it's great fun - and the most we'll have out of Hartnell post Masterplan. Got to disagree about the song, though.
Fandom hated it when Fandom wanted more Recursive Reclusion than Nimons. Fandom was wrong.

Re: Rate "The Gunfighters"
By chance I watched it a couple of weeks ago and thought it very good. It would lose a great deal of atmosphere if the ballad went and be much more ordinary; it's not as if it is meant to be, even in Doctor Who terms, realistic. I'm torn between a 4 and a 5 but perhaps incline to the latter. I feel there's a slight problem with the ending but still I am looking forward to watching again within a reasonably short period (and one doesn't say that about every story)..
