Because I think it's been long enough since I last posted a Dylan song, and this is so
much better than what the Byrds did to it:

Oh, very, very true. And about Sonic Youth as well. That said, I do like any cover version released by them (especially their cover version of Superstar... hmm, possibly go looking for that for tomorrow!-), and my favourite period from them must be their Ciccone Youth one!

You know, I always thought that you were either a Beatles fan or a stones fan. And the Velvet track Heroin put me off drugs for life. So generally I'm interested in any band that is trying to be neither the Beatles or the Velvet Underground.

A few years ago, a friend and I came up with an idea for a TV series, but we couldn't get anyone to pick it up. Anyway, this is the song I wanted to use for the opening titles, if it ever got that far:

Following on from my discussion with Stanmore yesterday, here, from the early 90's tribute album "If I Were A Carpenter" is a brilliant cover version:

Sonic Youth- Superstar

With an added link to yesterday's suggestion from me, in that the Velvets and the Carpenters both had lady drummers (hmm, what a good name for a group).

In total contrast:

Steely Dan - Do it again

They look like prats, I know. But I love them to bits. I got into the Dan through my love of Donald Fagen's Nightfly album (I posted Ruby baby from that the other day). I think they are brilliant.

I have very fond memories of Danny Baker talking about the Dan after he replaced DLT (a big Dan fan ) on R1 on Saturday mornings, remarking that if you don't know who Steely Dan are.......you should. DB was supposed to be making the show more hip. In fact, he upped the Dan and Fagen quotient considerably. Result! Wink

I really like folk and blues and the like and I've not posted one dimes worth of the stuff. So here's a legend who we recently lost.
