You're Entering The Twilight Zone

Post by Patrick on Tue Sep 29, 2009 5:34 am

On September 29, 1959, exactly 50 years ago today, Rod Serling's Twilight Zone premiered. How many of These Classics do you remember?
Very Happy

You must have had a great time watching them all on first transmission Patrick.

Razz
I wasn't there, personally, at the time. I had to catch them in re-runs, years later. I didn't make my "premiere" until 8 years later.

All of them. And I'd add some to the list. Very Happy

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call...the Twilight Zone.

Well done, Zoltar! My own fiction writing endeavors, as encouraged by a certain absent Seadevil, bear a striking resemblance to Twilight Zone fare.

I remember in the series 3 DVD for Doctor Who, Steven Moffat, being interviewed by David Tennant for "Do You Remember Your First Time?" in the confidentials, commented that you know you have a really strong Doctor Who story when you finish it and say "well, I've just blown that feature film idea." I think Twilight Zone was much the same.

Re: You're Entering The Twilight Zone

I'm giving this thread a little bump to tell you about something I've just discovered.

Over the weekend, I had a little bout of insomnia and found myself unable to get back to sleep at about 1:00 AM. So I decided to turn on the radio and see if I could fall to sleep listening to that.

Anyone like the old-style radio plays? Apparently, they've been revived, after a fashion. Producer Carl Amani has apparently bought the rights to the original Twilight Zone series from Rod Serling's estate, and has been reworking those scripts into radio dramas complete with sound effects and new casts. You can take a look at it, and listen to some sample broadcasts by going to their website: Twilight Zone Radio

And check out the cast list: John Schneider, Luke Perry, Jim Caviezel, Blair Underwood, Jane Seymour, Kate Jackson, Morgan Brittany, Jason Alexander, Lou Diamond Philips.

It's good stuff if you're a Twilight Zone fan, and you can purchase the audio-casts if you like for a really cheap price!

I'm giving this thread a little bump- in some conversations with Sid, he seemed interested in learning more about the TZ Radio programs, and a couple of posts up is a link to their website. I believe you can even listen to an episode or two from the website.
