New Series Books
I just finished my first new series book: The Eyeless.
I have to say Lance did a magnificent job of writing a book that wasn't childish - despite having children in it. It kept up with the quality I expect from having read most of the NAs and MAs.
This site - with a mature readership - is probably the perfect one to ask for recommendations for another new series book.

Re: New Series Books
I must admit I've never read any of the New Series books because I thought they were for kids. Which is terrifically hypocritical since I happily read my Targets
Where's the best place to start?

To be fair they are for kids. When launched they were expressly stated to be for children. I've no idea what age 'cause there to hard for the average 7/8 year olds, and not as much depth as say a Harry Potter or Dark Materials.
Having said that, 'The Eyeless' was well recommended, particularly by Lance himself, as appropriate for us Wrinklies. So I thought I would give it a go, and he was right. Compared to an NA or MA it's a novella rather than a novel - but still a damn good read.
I, like you, would like a recommendation for the next book. I don't think at the start is a good idea, though.

*blows raspberry back at the Supreme Commander*
FWIW, I'd start with the new 11th Doctor Novels. If you like them, go back to the Eccles ones.
My Target collection remains a priceless personal treasure. Built up over a period from the start of my teens to the start of my thirties. God Bless all who wrote for them. With the odd exception.

And yes, my complete set of Targets is my pride and joy. I started at about the age of 14, and got about half a set from years of scouring car boot sales and charity shops. eBay was much more efficient!

Re: New Series Books
I think I paid about £20 for that one But then I got the majority for between 50p and £1.50 so I think it balances out...
Re: New Series Books
If we're talking NSAs, then I think that the author that has had the best handle on the range is Gary Russell. Both Beautiful Chaos and The Glamour Chase are right at the top of the list. I'd also recommend Prisoner of the Daleks, The Eyeless, The Krillitane Storm and Only Human.

Re: New Series Books
So far then, ignoring The Eyeless, the thread being 'I enjoyed the Eyeless, what else is there good'...
3 votes for Prisoner of the Daleks
2 votes for Only Human
& for beautiful chaos
& one vote so far for each of
Sting Zygons, the pirate loop, The Glamour Chase & The Krillitane Storm
any more for any more?
