I can only hope that they went for that particular character because they saw something in it that they could do something interesting with.

I tend to agree, it's hard not to improve on the original.

I demand King Conan!
So, he's basically saying he's back. Well, he did say he would be. Razz

Yep. I expect he'll begin with a expanded role in The Expendables 2. Razz

Then I'll lay odds on a spin-off movie starring the same character.

Interesting. Although exactly how the basic original DS soap opera style will survive a head-on crash with Burton should prove interesting.

Fecking creatively bankrupt Hollywood bean counters. I bet they'll even stoop to releasing it in badly done post production 3D to boot. Evil or Very Mad Mad

You'd think so. They also mention TV rights. Prequels and sequels, plural, and TV? I'm surprised they stopped short of remaking the original too.

Give them time. Oh, and don't forget the video game, animated series and full range of tie-in toys too.

Just no.

A little Voight-Kampff test playset? How charming. Very Happy

This definitely surprised me, I'd have thought Blade Runner would be something people would leave alone.

As for the rest, you know Hollywood - if there's even a sniff of revenue to be had from an old idea, it's goldrush time all over again.

I understand Ridley Scott is considering suicide, just so he can join Philip K Dick in spinning in his grave.

If the past is in any way prologue to this, they'll be in New Zealand until Spring 2012 filming, editing through 2012 with a December 2012 release date for the first movie, and December 2013 for the second. Just my guess.
