Verity Lambert or Irwin Allen?
Rate "Planet of Giants"
Season 2 gets underway with a 4 part story cut down to 3. What do you think of "Planet of Giants"?

Hrmm. Hard to settle on a score for this one. There've been better stories, but I enjoyed the way they realized the effects. I'll have to ponder it a bit.

Having pondered I reckon 3/5. A prime example of the incredibly bold aims of the Production team led by Verity Lambert.

I've given it 4. The reason is that I remember being absolutely fascinated by it as an eight year old, so much so that it has long been one of most wanted DVDs (get a move on 2entertain...). It must have done something right to have made such an impression (unlike The Sensorites which left no impression on my mind at all!)

I'm giving this one a 4. Yes, it's not the best story ever written for Who, but it is a fine example of how, in those early years, they were not afraid to be experimental and push the boundaries of what was possible. I give them marks for trying.

My mum still talks about this story, which she only saw on first transmission - she loved it.

It looks beautiful, but when when watching I usually fall asleep before we see all of this fantastic stuff. 1/5 for being the definition of boring.
