Peter Capaldi's first Christmas Special is upon us. A friend of mine who has seen it said; "Good night with Peter Capaldi at the Dr.Who Christmas preview on Wednesday night. Best Christmas special for years in my opinion - but that could have just been a dream,"

I gave it 7 out of 10 elsewhere. Can't quite articulate why it's not a 5. I blubbered at old Clara.

Re: Rate "Last Christmas"
Hopefully there's no dream crab on my face because that was Moffat's best Christmas special.
Re: Rate "Last Christmas"
I have this recurring dream that I'm James Bond. Darn those dream crabs and their false hopes! I really liked the symmetry in this. The Doctor helping old Clara to open the Christmas cracker brought us full circle from last Christmas, when Clara did the same thing for the old Doctor. I love the way they can shamelessly borrow an idea from Alien, and even give Alien credit, and make it a nice little in-joke. Great Christmas fun. A true classic, I predict.
5/5 from me.

I think I preferred Time of the Doctor but this was incredibly good still. A very solid 4/5.
Also Michael Troughton sounds scarily like his father.

Re: Rate "Last Christmas"
Michael was horribly underwritten IMO. Finally watched this tonight.
The Mind Robber meets The Curse of Fenric meets The Thing at Christmas. Good, if totally unsuitable for the 6.15pm timeslot. For me, the story should have ended with The Doctor leaving elderly Clara. And can we please can we say goodbye to Danny Pink.
But, overall, Moffat's best Christmas Special - although that could be a case of damned by feint praise.
