Top of the Pops is back...
...but it's still got Fearne #@*%ing Cotton in it! So will, of course, be #@*%ing $#&@! Gah!
How the #@*% do I get within slapping distance of that pop-ruining $!$#?
#?!*&$~£!
Or, alternatively, you may be looking forward to the show's return - why not let us know? Phone our TotP people's hotline on 268866 4722868, or alternatively text us on 24824 (standard network charges apply) and tell us what you think!

Re: Top of the Pops is back...
I thought they'd cancelled it and replaced it instead with a special two-part edition of TotP 2?
Which to be honest, would probably net them more viewers.

It would indeed. Since it was always better. And I hope to [insert deity of choice here] that wasn't just 'cause I was getting old. And imagine being someone who Steve Wright is preferable to (okay, that's it, I've got the Cotton picking-on out of my system. At least until the next time I think of it...)...
Re: Top of the Pops is back...
Hmmm..it would appear that the Beeb and done something of a U-turn and reinstate this in reaction, at least in part, to Simon Cowell's offer to buy the rights from them and take the show to ITV.

It'll be interesting to see what this does to the scheduling of the Doctor Who Prom.

Ah, I'd actually forgotten totally about the DW Prom. I'm surprised they haven't simply Red Buttoned it again. The Co=Ordinator wrote:It'll be interesting to see what this does to the scheduling of the Doctor Who Prom.

A full 2 hour version of the Prom is being released with a vanilla "The Next Doctor" in January.

Thankee. That's Kate's "unexpectedly delayed due to unforeseen circumstances" late Christmas present in the bag!The Co=Ordinator wrote:A full 2 hour version of the Prom is being released with a vanilla "The Next Doctor" in January.

To be totally honest, I don't have much of a problem with Fearne Cotton presenting it; TOTP presenters have been rubbish as long as I've been alive. The problem I have with TOTP these days is, modern music is pretty uniformly terrible.

The modern music that people buy in large enough quantities to get it on TotP is, true enough...
Re: Top of the Pops is back...
Top of the Pops presenters for me go into three categories. Pointless, smugs, irritating smucks who are using up my planet's oxygen (Noel Edmonds, DLT, Fearne), creepy oddsters (Tony Blackburn, Jimmy Saville) and the nearest thing this planet has ever seen to God who doesn't wear a long multi-coloured scarf (John Peel).
Most of the music on the show in 1988 (say) would be pretty appalling, but it never seemed to do the show any harm. Please Release me was number one for seven weeks in the summer of love and nobody wrote into the Radio Times asking for the show to be taken off air.
