It's that pesky General.
Is it just me or am I enjoying 24 less since I noticed that Brannon "I Ruined Star Trek" Braga is one of the head writers for 24? At least I understand why the show has gone so over-the-top.

Re: 24: Day Seven
So last night was the 2-hour season finale over here. I have to admit, although I thought this season started off a bit slow, it did pick up as we started whittling away the un-necessary characters to get down to the main plot.
So how far behind are airings of 24 in the UK?

SKY One has the two hour series finale tonight. This means that I have got four hours worth of 24 to watch today.Patrick wrote:So last night was the 2-hour season finale over here. So far I think this has been one of the best seasons of 24 in years. You can tell that Manny Cotto is now on the writing team.

Cat,
That last four episodes are mind-blowing, and only slightly let down when the news came out the day of the 2-hour season finale's broadcast that Kieffer Sutherland still has three years left on his contract.
I agree with you that this season has been very good. Wait until you see who gets their come-uppance as the story reaches it's resolution.

- Spoiler:
- I am not surprised that President Taylor threw the book at her. After all, the President had just unseated a a dictator who played fast and lose with the Law and peoples' lives for his own personal advantage, she was hardly likely to then go and do the same thing to save her spoilt brat daughter's backside.
Re: 24: Day Seven
Okay, I *should* be marking papers and writing reports *but* we've got the whole series to watch on our new media drive *so* I will do all of the above when I know that Jack Bauer has saved the day...
I am addicted.

Alright, 24 Fans, before Day No. 8 begins next month, I thought I'd give you a little Christmas present:
Jack Bauer makes the "naughty" list.

Re: 24: Day Seven
Am I alone in watching the start of that video and thinking that that can't be right because Bill is dead now.
Re: 24: Day Seven
I am now ten hours into 24 Day 8. Dear God it's dull. I am not at all surprised the series got canceled. Jack Bauer mumbles far too much, someone should really have had a word with Mr. Sutherland about that. None of the supporting characters are at all likable. I will probably watch the rest of it, if only because my mother recorded it on her SKY+ HD box for me, and is fed up of it taking up so much room on its hard drive.
Re: 24: Day Seven
It does pick up toward the end of the "day", but you are correct- in the middle, that last series did get bogged down quite a bit. It picks up so much in fact, that by the end of the series, even though it had already been announced that was to be the end for 24, I found myself regretting that really was over.

Re: 24: Day Seven
Agreed, Patrick. Day 8 did redeem itself in it's latter section. Ideally, rather than cancel it what Fox should have done is simply rest it for a couple of years before bringing it back. Give everybody time to recharge their batteries.

Re: 24: Day Seven
I don't doubt it will be back. It looked to me as if they were setting Rene up as a replacement Jack. Lets face it, she is certainly screwed up enough.

Make of this what you will...
Kieffer Sutherland: '24' Movie Coming in 2012
The thing is, if you read the article, the project doesn't have a director, and doesn't have a firm release date.

Re: 24: Day Seven
That movie has been mooted for a couple of years now. I doubt it'll get off the ground for at least a good five years or so yet. Actually, there's more chance of the series returning before any movie. Let's fact it - Fox hasn't exactly successfully replaced it yet.

You are absolutely correct, Sid- rumors of a '24' movie have been around for quite a while, which certainly warrants a degree of skepticism. But it should be pointed out that this news was delivered by Kieffer himself, on national television. And IIRC, Keiffer was a producer on the show, too. Consequently, I'm not sure what to make of this news.

Re: 24: Day Seven
Fair point, Patrick. Frankly, I'm still far from convinced that the "24" format is suited to movies. Take away the 'real time' element and what you're left with is just another action/adventure with a near psychopathic (albeit charismatic) hero.Patrick wrote:You are absolutely correct, Sid- rumors of a '24' movie have been around for quite a while, which certainly warrants a degree of skepticism. Re: 24: Day Seven
Good news, 24 fans! Fox has commissioned 12 new episodes of the show, to begin with a two hour premiere on May 5th. Are we calling this Day 9?
