A Bad Joke? Mel Gibson in Edge Of Darkness Remake

This looks like something from an Onion parody, but is actually real. Can anything be worse than the contemplation of Mel Gibson appearing in an American remake of Edge of Darkness? I had held out hopes that the involvement of the series original director, Martin Campbell would make it at least bearable, but the following trailer would suggest otherwise.

Here's the original ending, simply because I can't see them doing the same to Mel Gibson. "You ever been to Afghanistan, Craven? They eat the balck flowers over there." Amazingly prescient.

Edge of Darkness is, quite simply, one of the greatest pieces of television ever. No-one should even have contemplated remaking it.

what are you on about- it looks awesome. they should have got sylvester stallone to play pendleton though,
