The Big Bang - Big scheduling issue?
The order of play at Wimbledon tomorrow has Andy Murray third match, after Serena & Nadal. BBC One will show the whole game live. It probably won't start before 4.30pm. Do the math!
I actually think this is a deliberate ploy by the BBC. They would be quite happy for an overrun that puts "The Big Bang" back to 7pm, so they call pull the "Total Wipout" repeat that has replaced the potential England game. It would also put a dent in ITV's coverage of USA v Ghana.
Anyway, I suggest folk stay tuned tomorrow afternoon!

Wouldn't it be just our luck if we had a televised match Saturday that broke Isner/Mahut's record?

I recon it'll end up on BBC2 with an audience of 2 and a half million myself, just like last year...

Re: The Big Bang - Big scheduling issue?
I *hope* there's more to it than what they did to Robin Hood last year Lee. Lets remember that Who is the top rated non-soap drama in the UK.
Blimey, I'm giving Jay Hunt the benefit of the doubt. What's going on?

Give the amount of cash they spend on Who surely they would want to get their money's worth and have the flagship show on the main channel?

I genuinely think they're using a potential opportunity to build up the audience and show Who later than the stupid 6.05 schedule, which was caused by the belief England would be playing at 7.30.
I may be horribly wrong.

The thing is, tennis doesn't have a clock. A match lasts as long as it lasts. It's one thing to have game like

That's the gamble.......................

I've actually had an offer to head down there. But my supreme laziness will probably mean that it's a wander out to my garden tomorrow and a day-long sit down for me...

Re: The Big Bang - Big scheduling issue?
My first thought on reading that is that I'm not going to venture out of the sport section of GB today because they'll be going mad there...
My guess is that it'll end up like Robin Hood last year - on BBC Two, with a repeat on One next Saturday. They just said now on Breakfast that they expect him to start around 5 - and that's presuming easy wins for Serena and Nadal - so it'll be 6.30 at the earliest before it finishes.

Ah well, that's Doctor Who screwed. No-one will know when it starts, and the sports fans will simply switch over to ITV for the footie.
If we're very, very lucky, we could see a repeat of the post big sporting event from 2006, but somehow I doubt it.

I'm going to watch it alone up here on the iPlayer whatever happens, so there.
Re: The Big Bang - Big scheduling issue?
I doubt there will be much of a viewing boost - it's a lovely day here (and for most of the country, I think) so most people will have better things to do than watch Andy Murray in a 3rd round match at Wimbledon. IIRC, the 2006 boost was for RIse of the Cybermen after an FA Cup semi-final on a drab day in April - plus, it started just about on schedule.Lee Carey wrote:Ah well, that's Doctor Who screwed. Third set tie-breaker. The length of the match means Who stays at 6.05.

Well, being a proud Scot, I'd already decided to support the Paisley lad and the girl from Inverness.
