Very different to anything before - and as some had heard, it's a 2 series arc.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
Well now we know why Moffat wanted at least 2 series. I really can't wait for next year
How do I rate it? No bloody idea. Either a 4 or a 5. I may have to rewatch.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
That was lovely. Intricate yet beautifully simple, epic yet intimate, heartfelt yet laugh-out-loud funny.
Scenes like the Doctor's conversation with Amy in the Pandorica, and the Doctor talking to the sleeping Amelia were some of the most beautiful the show has ever offered up.
Now, I need to watch the series again.
5/5

So long as you're being honest. Better being honest than slavishly nodding your head with the rest of the crowd.DalekJim wrote:I feel utterly terrible about this and I'm not proud at all.

Here's my shocking revelation for the thread: I didn't like 'Vincent and the Doctor'. I thought it was sickly and mawkish, and the monster was crap.
Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
Ack, I honestly thought I'd enjoy it too as the ending of last week's was brilliant. i dunno if I can even face going on GB, I'm gonna get torn to shreds aren't I?
I really can't believe how utterly horrible I found that. I've been critical of The Moff but that was just.. I just feel miserable now.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
I'll past what i said on GB (I am NOT looking forward to the responses to this post on there:
"
A relentlessly boring, needlessly over-complicated and incoherently heavy handed mess which kept piling on endless layers of "Aren't I so clever?" narrative willy-waving until it collapsed entirely. An empty centre circled by miles of timey wimey jargon with an utterly bizarre karaoke of RTD at the end.
1/10
Giving Amy both Rose and Donna's exits makes it twice as sad am I right?
..
No.
What the hell did I just watch?"
I'm just depressed now, it's killed my enthusiasm for further Who. I need to go rewatch Amy's Choice.

You'll get no bashing here. I disagree with you on possibly every level (I feel certain I'll look back on this series in a whole new, improved light as a result of this episode), but there's nothing wrong with constructive criticism.

Too late, I looked and now I'm even more miserable. Brilliant.
I've even got Ian Levine hating on me when I was his sole defender in that thread a while back. Nice one.

Seriously, mate, stay away. There are a lot of tossers on the internet, and most of them are members of GB. (Present company excepted, of course.)DalekJim wrote:Too late, I looked and now I'm even more miserable. Brilliant.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
According to Moffat at the end of Confidential series 6 is about "Who is River Song" and "The Silence".
In response to Dalek Jim, I thought this episode was better than "The End of Time Part Two" on every level. Underplayed, thoughtful, superbly constructed.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
I think that sentence says more about you than the Big Bang, and contains far less eloquent writing as well.DalekJim wrote:A relentlessly boring, needlessly over-complicated and incoherently heavy handed mess which kept piling on endless layers of "Aren't I so clever?" narrative willy-waving until it collapsed entirely. .
Personally I found it gorgeous, at once small scale and epic, it featured a concept as big as the end of the universe and as personal as a wedding, and ended with Rory a companion. It played with narrative in a way that only Doctor Who can, and featured the replica of a man so in love he'd stay and protect the object of his affection for two thousand years. And it said that what we imagine can come to life.
And a chase through a museum by a Dalek.
Lovely, life affirming stuff that left me with a huge smile on my face.

Let's not start unnecessary arguments or insult other posters, eh Lee?
Everyone has a right to their opinion.
I will make it clear now: This thread is not to take the same tone as The Pandorica Opens one. Nothing positive came out of it and that discussion is ended.

Okay, then can you tell me what that sentence actually means, beyond "Aren't I clever in my arch cynicism??DalekJim wrote:Lee Carey wrote:I think that sentence says more about you than the Big BangDalekJim wrote:A relentlessly boring, needlessly over-complicated and incoherently heavy handed mess which kept piling on endless layers of "Aren't I so clever?" narrative willy-waving until it collapsed entirely.
