The weather is no doubt a variable I hadn't taken into consideration, particularly if it gets shipped "ground" once it gets here.

There's a review by Vanessa Bishop in the new DWM. She concludes with 'A worthy addition to serious texts on Doctor Who'.

Excellent! And absolutely deserved praise. I'm delighted for both Frank and his publishers.

Thanks for the kind words! Yes, we are chuffed to bits with that Vanessa Bishop review. I've been on tenterhooks waiting for it and was so pleased it was a positive review.
By my reckoning that's 7 pretty positive reviews on the web and in print. Still waiting to see if SFX will cover it.

Sid Seadevil wrote:That's great news, andrea. Anything that raises the book's profile is to be welcomed. Because the further I read into it, the more I'm convinced that this is (and there's no ego-stroking or flannel involved here) an important book in the field of not just DW, but TV criticism as a whole. And yes, I can be quoted on that.
Aw, thanks Sid. I really appreciate that.
Re: Doctor Who: The Pandorica Opens - Exploring the Worlds of the Eleventh Doctor
I'm sure SFX will cover it me old duck. I'll be posting my review on Amazon soon. I just want to finish my reread first.
But a DWM positive review - you realised every fan's secret dream!

Patrick wrote:So in response to the publisher, I indicated that the reason I had to order it directly from them was due to the error message I got when I visited Amazon.com. Here's the reply:
Hi Patrick,
The Amazon.com thing is an odd one - we've not sorted out US distribution yet (we're a pretty new independent publisher) but think the book ended up getting listed because it's on Amazon.co.uk. Anyway, we're currently sorting out better UK distribution and then the US is next on our hitlist.
Thanks for being understanding about your order - hopefully you'll receive it any day now...
All the best,
(name omitted)
So they apparently haven't even attempted to reach US readers yet. Frank, my friend, I think you should crack the whip with them a bit.
I'm really sorry you are having problems getting the book, Patrick. However, in fairness Classic TV is run by just two people and they are not set up for mass distribution yet - even in the UK - and Amazon have mucked us about considerably with the book. All orders, whether placed on Amazon, Waterstones etc tend to be processed by them. The only instances where that might be different is with specialist shops like The Who Shop, Galaxy Four etc who may have their own stock. Unfortunately, small publishers like Classic TV Press are at the mercy of Amazon and the postal service both in the UK and internationally and there isn't much they can do about that presently.
I know that Classic TV Press are working on this and have just confirmed a deal with a proper distributor who will then handle all of this for them. It will make life easier for them and for you. They will get the books out into the shops, deal with mail order etc.
We're all on a steep learning curve but I can only apologise that the book has taken so long to get to you. If I'd known this would have been the case then I would have dealt with it directly myself and sold you one of my own copies.
Hope it gets to you soon.

I feel very flattered. I just hope it translates into sales.

Re: Doctor Who: The Pandorica Opens - Exploring the Worlds of the Eleventh Doctor
I am pleased to report that upon checking my mail box yesterday, I discoverd the book has arrived!
I've already read through about a fourth of the book, and as usual, Frank's insights and observations make for a very thought-provoking read. As soon as it's available through Amazon.com, I shall be the first to post a review.

I said when I next got paid, I'd order this. I lied, I'm a pay-packet along, but the book is finally heading towards Stanmore...

Hurrah! Really chuffed it finally arrived. Glad you're enjoying it. Why not pop a review up on Amazon.co.uk instead? I've no idea when Amazon.com will stock this because as my publisher explained, it was never intended that the book be listed on the .com site anyway. The good news is that at least in the UK a distributor has taken over supplying the book and the co.uk site is repeatedly running out of stock and asking for more supplies!

For those waiting for Amazon.co.uk to finally get stock in I can confirm that the book is now indeed officially 'in stock' and available!
Hurrah! It's only taken three months. Sigh.

Re: Doctor Who: The Pandorica Opens - Exploring the Worlds of the Eleventh Doctor
Frank,
I have just finished the chapter on "Amy's Choice," and I'm finding the character dynamic you've described between Amy, Rory and the Doctor fascinating. I can't wait to sit down later today and pick up with the Silurian two-parter.
Rest assured, I shall contribute a comment at the Amazon.co.uk page as soon as I've finished the full text. This is a brilliant read!
