Series 1 comes to a dramatic conclusion: the final episode starring Christopher Eccelston as The Doctor. What did you think of "The Parting of the Ways"?

The Doctor Who story I had always dreamed of. Brilliant in so many, many ways. Simply the best.

Well, I think I was on a chair, but I can't be too sure. I may have been floating above it. I do remember standing up and applauding when one of the daleks said "Do not blaspheme".

5/5 because it's just so so good. The Daleks pretty much at their best ever. They certainly haven't been half as good since.

Re: Rate "The Parting Of The Ways"
I only gave it 4/5. I apologise for this level of controversy.
It's an excellent story, wonderfully acted and directed, and my favourite out of the many Murray Gold scores. I remember thinking whilst watching it "well, the BBC's been wrong before, the press has been wrong before, fandom has been very wrong before, perhaps Chris is staying?" and I don't think I've ever got that association with disappointment out my head.

Tony, you going to do the classic series once we've caught up on all RTD? (I know that will keep these threads going until sometime in 2015)

Hadn't given it a thought to be honest Tom, but anything's possible I suppose!
The RTD polls will, temporarily, conclude with The Runaway Bride ahead of the transmission of series 6b), resuming shortly after episode 13 & running up till Christmas.

My internet goes down for a day thanks to lightning strike, so I toil away at work, confident that my posting of the "Parting of the Ways" thread will be well received. And what do I find? Somehow, I'm blamed for a bloke who once thought Emilia Rumsford was "sex on a stick." C=O, I won't forget this.
I'm giving this story a 5. Bear in mind that my first viewing of this episode was nearly a year after it had aired in the UK. It was a dramatic and wonderful conclusion to series 1, and I certainly didn't expect the Eccleston regeneration the first time I saw it. But the regeneration moment itself, crystalized by 45 minutes of great drama, made me gasp.
"You were fantastic Rose. And you know what? So was I!"
I loved it. Wonderful stuff.
And I'm not blaming anyone.
