For me, as brilliant as the P1 was, Camp Bastion was the highlight. Our nephew has had 4 terms out there, and it brought so much home. The development of the vehicles was truly remarkable as well. Of course The Ninja and I were in Bruges in 2011 so we loved that segment. Smile

So much more in there as well. As close, as possible, to a perfect (non-special) episode.

Anyone thinking of making a trip to the Ukraine? Particularly just now? I think I'll pass on that little adventure, personally.

Oh, I'm not complaining. Any episode featuring James May trying to learn magic tricks, and Clarkson trying to learn Ukrainian is definately worth a view.

But I have noticed something of a trend when it comes to location shooting on Top Gear that I think should be discussed. A couple of years ago, Top Gear "snuck" across Syria in burkhas. Within a year, the country sinks into civil war. Top Gear drives through Uganda searching for the source of the Nile, and comments on local views concerning homosexuality. Within a year, Uganda adopts laws criminalizing homosexuality as a 22 year prison sentance. Then Top Gear traverses the length of the Ukraine. A few months later, there's a popular uprising in Kiev that ousts the President.

I think countries which get asked to grant Top Gear a visa for film-making purposes might want to think very carefully about their response.

I've had a word with the US State Department, and re-advised them to consider how "entertaining" the show is. That should once again prove problematic for Top Gear entering America.

Spoilsport? No, I just like seeing how Clarkson has to respond when he's forced to be "factual" while in the States.

The latest episode, while not the best, was still interesting. And had some great digs at Clarkson's bête noire, Piers Morgan.

I can't wait to see it. Piers Morgan's CNN show was long on bombast and short on quality, and Clarkson's feud with him is pretty well known even on this side of the Atlantic.

The episode we got on Monday featured Hammond having a pizza tied to his crotch while Clarkson took a blow torch to it, and taking a few digs at the National Corvette Museum. You know, I've been to the Nat'l Corvette Museum, many times. I've been in the room where there sinkhole happened. They had a very nice one-off production of a specially tuned black 1993 convertible that I absolutely loved. And here's Clarkson picking on the Corvette, again. I mean, I don't go around wishing a sinkhole would open up under his Mercedes.

The Piers Morgan digs were quite entertaining. However, now that I have seen the Porsche, I fear Jeremy may lose his bet and be forced to legally change his name to Jennifer concerning the performance of the McClaren P1. And, as someone who lives in a state where bicyclists are omni-present between April and October, I thoroughly appreciated the Public Service Announcements Clarkson and May came up with for cyclists.

We get Burma part 1 next Monday. They mentioned that the head to head test between the McClaren and the Porsche would be scheduled for the May/June time frame. Hmm, that might make for convenient timing. Are you sure you're still on the waiting list for tickets to a taping, C=O?
