Series 6 to be split into two

Next series of Doctor Who to be split transmission

So we're getting two halves of series 6. Half in the spring and half in the Autumn. I wonder how they'll split it. And what do we all think of this?

Personally I can see it as a way of getting rid of the mid-to-end of series ratings dip.

It'll avoid the dip in overnights when the weather is nice, which means of course that next June we'll have filthy weather... . I think it'll also keep interest in the series going longer throughout the year.

Some are speculating that they may kill off Pond at the halfway point. I hope not, she is very easy on the eyes...

More likely to kill off poor old Rory. Again.

It's just occurred to me that now we really will have a series 6b!

I'm not keen on finales and event episodes so my heart rather sinks, to be honest. I would much rather just have thirteen consecutive episodes with plenty of variety. I feel as if I started falling somewhat out of love with Doctor Who round about The Next Doctor and, with the exception of about three episodes have not fallen back in love with it. More event episodes are not likely to make me do so, I fear.

This has been coming for a long while.

Ties in with Moffat's commitments on Sherlock, the success of which has amazed the BBC. Also dovetails in with production of SJA & Torchwood: the preparation for the opening of the BBC's huge new facility in Cardiff: and looking even further ahead the 50th anniversary in 2013.

What? No! No killing!!!!!

I like autumn Doctor Who so in that sense I am happy. I'm hoping that we don't have two big finishes a year though. They tend to get a bit samey.

I hope they don't get rid of Amy in the middle - that'll mean I'll have to put up with her for six episodes when they could get rid of her in the first one...

Should be fun for the schedulers if they're trying to fit 6/7 episodes of Who in alongside S4 of Merlin and Strictly Come Dancing, while trying to avoid X-Factor.

Who cares about the X-Factor? All the reviews of the new series I've read have been saying how rubbish it is. I think it's dying.

Amy and Rory, however, are NOT dying. I shall make this come true by sheer force of willpower if necessary.
