Re: Rate "The Long Game"
My fault that this poll has come after Fathers Day btw folks.
Despite having Simon Pegg, this story is the weakest in Series 1 for me. Even though the character of Adam Mitchell is meant to be annoying Bruno Langley surpasses what was in the script by a country mile. So overall I'll give it 2/5.

Re: Rate "The Long Game"
This is the story that I have watched the least since I bought my Series 1 box set in 2006. Adam's annoying presence was topped only by Cathica's lack of journalistic instincts, making her character less than believable. Even what was intended to be comedic moments in the story didn't work for me.
1/5 for me.

Re: Rate "The Long Game"
This is also the Series 1 episode I've watched the least. 2/5 for me. There's some interesting stuff in the episode, and Simon Pegg seems to be having fun, but it doesn't really do much for me.

Re: Rate "The Long Game"
i think the fact that you forgot about it and went straight from "dalek" to "fathers day" says it all.

Re: Rate "The Long Game"
3/5
It's nothing special, and it's greatest aspects - Simon Pegg, a sweet little satire on the nature of Journalism, with a fat oily sharp-toothed monster at it's head - all seem to be sidelined for the rather laboured point of "not everyone is companion material." That said, it would be wrong to dismiss these positive aspects.

Saying that; I hadn't noticed anything was wrong when Father's Day popped up earlier...

Re: Rate "The Long Game"
I can only give this 2/5, because despite the satire (looking at you, News International, looking directly at you), it's a missed opportunity.
Simon Pegg is wasted in a disposable role and although he does his best to lift the character, it doesn't really work. Shame.

Re: Rate "The Long Game"
I agree, with both the 3/5 and the comments. Also, the ending seemed all wrong - OK, take Adam home but to leave him with all that future tecnnology in his head? Cruel to him and dangerous to society I would have thought.stanmore wrote:3/5

Re: Rate "The Long Game"
4/5 from me. This is probably the most underrated story of new WHO. What's not to love, Simon Pegg on form, a solid story with a sinister mystery behind it and interesting set of characters. Also Adam is barely in the second half. He spends it lying on a table and not doing much.

Re: Rate "The Long Game"
Ultimately the sole purpose of this story was to set us up for the finale.
