We reach the much heralded return of the Cybermen on alt-Earth. What did you make of this episode?

A good/average. If I could I'd give it 3.5/5 but I'll round up to 4.

Re: Rate "Rise of the Cybermen"
Neat gif Junior!
As a rule I intensly dislike alt-universe stories of any sort as they are, IMO, a cop out. And series 2 does this to excess. However I like this more than I probably should. Roger Lloyd-Pack is simpy superb as John Lumic (the sprirt of Zaroff is with us), the Cyber attack on The Alt-Tyler's mansion superbly staged and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a deeply chilling scene.
So overall it's 4/5 from me.

Re: Rate "Rise of the Cybermen"
So, C=O, does this mean you were never a fan of Inferno?
In Doctor Who history, I've always found the Cybermen a bit more menacing than I found the Daleks, so I was ooking foward to their return here, and I was hoping to get a sort of "Spare Parts" origin story. (I loved Spare Parts). Well, I didn't get that, but I was completely surprised to find Rose's dad Pete was alive and well.
Sadly, my issue with this story is that all the tension happens in the last five minutes of the episode. Up until then, it's all jokes about how Rose in this alt-universe is a dog, and Micky's case of mistaken identity.
3/5 for me.

Re: Rate "Rise of the Cybermen"
There's some good bits in it, but they're scattered amongst some quite rubbish bits and a wildly disparate range of acting styles. I'm in a harsh mood today, so just 2/5 from me.
Re: Rate "Rise of the Cybermen"
I'm a fan of alternative universe stories like this one and Inferno, so I enjoyed that aspect of the story. Lumic was fantastically OTT and a memorable highlight of the episode. It's all a bit uneven in the end though, so I'll give it a 3/5.
