The Doctor's people divert the TARDIS so that the Doctor and Sarah Jane arrive for what will be the audience's first visit to Karn. Karn is not only in Gallifrey's neighborhood, it's home to the Sisterhood of the Flame, whose sacred fire creates an elixir which has been used by Time Lords for years as an aid in regenerative crises. The flame, however, is dying, and the Sisterhood believe the Doctor has arrived to steal the last vestiges of the elixir for himself. They arrange to have him captured. Complicating all this Sisterhood/elixir intrigue is the fact that Karn is also serving as a refuge for a truly mad scientist named Dr. Solon and his dim but innocent servant Condo. In Dr. Solon's possession is the brain of Morbius, an evil Time Lord who was thought to have been executed. Solon is attempting to build a new body for Morbius Brain, and the only item he's currently missing to make this cobbled-together body complete is a head into which this brain can be placed. As a fellow Time Lord to Morbius, the Doctor's head with be perfect for the task.
So, what did you think of the penultimate story of Season 13? Frightening or feeble? Let's be hearing from you!

Oh, it's a great take on Frankenstein, with the (recently returned) Sisterhood thrown in for good measure. But because Uncle Tewwance didn't like what was done with his script, I'll give it 4/5.

I actually like this story better than Pyramids of Mars. It was another nice piece of mythology to the Time Lords and Gallifrey, it layered in some Mary Shelley horror, and was quite nicely realized visually in the production. And it's given fandom years of speculation as to who all the other faces we saw in that mind battle screen were. It's a clear 5/5 from me.
