For the first time since 1963 (apparently), Coal Hill School is under threat from alien manipulation. The Skovox Blitzer is set to destroy all humanity, a task it seems both capable of, and entirely motivated to complete. Therein lies the larger problem. To combat this threat, the Doctor has returned to his John Smith alias and taken an undercover janitorial position at the school where Clara teaches. This means there's every possibility the Doctor will meet Danny Pink. Heaven help us all!
So what did you think of "The Caretaker," the sixth offering in this new series of Doctor Who? Was it spic and span? Or did it simply sweep things under the carpet? Let's hear your opinions, fellow Wrinklies! And again, a warning to our North American Wrinkly contingent: this thread may very well contain spoilers if you peak in here Saturday prior to transmission of the episode on BBC-America or Space-TV Canada. Venture in here at your own risk if you want to remain un-spoilered.

Re: Rate "The Caretaker"
Am I really the first one to offer a reaction to Saturday's episode?
I have to say I really enjoyed this episode. It was a bit light on the science fiction-y side, but that's okay, because it was a really great character-driven story. I had been wondering since "Into The Dalek" how the Doctor would react to Danny "The Soldier" Pink, what I didn't see coming was Danny displaying his Officer issues right back at the Doctor. And seeing all of this upset Clara's carefully compartmentalized world where a clear dividing line exists between time travelling with the Doctor, and having a normal human experience, was again a treat. The dialogue sparkled, the performances were excellent. I have no complaints about "The Caretaker," which is why it gets a five from me.

Re: Rate "The Caretaker"
Finally watched this tonight. Not for the first time it felt like The Doctor's lines were written for Smith. It's very tricky for Capaldi. The fact that Danny hasn't even heard of The Doctor is just wrong. And Courtney Woods in the TARDIS is another horrible Moffat addition, shame he couldn't learn from the Angie and Artie fiasco. 2/5.
