My second favourite piece of music, accompanied by a montage of scenes from my second favourite show.

I think a little bit of Neil and Chris today...summing up my work day in its entirety! Debussy to a disco beat indeed.

That's comparatively late for early Floyd (so to speak), isn't it?

I'd plough earlier than that for psychadelic Floyd - ie anything from 1967's "Piper at the Gates Of Dawn".

Well, it's earlier than "Comfortably Numb", anyway Wink.

If you're good, I might put up "Bike" before the end of the week...

The version to post is their Top of the Pops performance. During an era when absolutely no-one performed live on TotP, New Order decide to...

Suffice to say, the conversation the next day at school wasn't complimentary, and, unsurprisingly, the next week saw it plummet down the charts.

but that said, for all my criticisms at the time, it's a glorious performance, especially when Barney forgets the words and laughs at one point- perfectly in keeping with the wilful self destructiveness New order have always exhibited. after all, Blue Monday was the best selling 12 inch single of all time...

And still managed to loose Factory Records 5 pence for every copy sold!!! Very Happy

I'm posting it here not as an entry, but an alternative to the one Johnston posted above.

You know, on the subject of New Order, I was driving down to Colorado Springs yesterday for dinner with the family and listening to my Best of New Order CD. "Touched By The Hand Of God" comes on, and I'm struck by how it seems to call to mind the incidental music from Time & The Rani.

Consequently, I changed discs and listened to Depeche Mode instead.

The former. I mean they're alright, don't get me wrong, and I like Supermassive Black Hole in a school-disco Radiohead kind of way, but 'alright' is all they are...

ETA- Although if anyone likes them that's great, and I in no way wish to denegrate or cause offence. Perhaps mildly mock, but that's all. You've heard the kind of stuff I listen to, so what do I know?

Oh, and I reckon 'Doctorin' the TARDIS' should be The Timelords rather than The KLF, but that may be just me...

Anyway, today it's a band I first saw supporting iLiKETRAiNS in a library (along with Married to the Sea, whose CD I also bought. The sign of a great gig when you buy CDs from both supports...);

The KLF are going to remain The KLF on the big list. I'm hoping they're not Timelords so they can't regenerate...*

One thing I would say peeps. The Music Library a great idea, and with the diversity of people here, we're bound to have a diversity of music. So if you really hate something that is linked, please be nice and don't have a go on here. One person's genius is another person's arsehole.

Any connection between the above and my selection for today is purely deliberate. Besides which, there's not a law in the land that says I can't go from ska/punk to fluffy pap in one easy move. Razz Razz

Yeah, I was a bit worried that was how I'd come across, hence my disclaimer. Sorry again.

One person's genius is another person's arsehole.

Or often both at the same time, if they're Kevin Rowland...

Bit of context for this one, for those of you whoi aren't comics-literate:

The original lyrics were written (along with sheet music) as part of a recap for Alan Moore's dystopian comic, V for Vendetta. The version I've linked to uses stills from the (inferior) movie adaptation; there is one on YouTube that uses the art from the original comic panels, but it cuts the beginning off the music, damnit. Anyway...
