Re: Torchwood: Miracle Day - Pre transmission discussion
Keith "Telly" Topping's Blog is reporting that RTD has stated that the change which happens in Miracle Day, namely that no one on Earth can die, happens in reverse to Cap'n Jack. Apparently, he realizes he is mortal, and can die. Interesting.

Re: Torchwood: Miracle Day - Pre transmission discussion
There is a line in the trailer were Jack says "The great thing about the Miracle is it affects everybody on Earth equally.". I think we all now know what he is going to say next.Zoltar wrote:Very. The Starz network is currently airing this five minute promotional spot for Miracle Day, and it's a pretty well done character piece. Have a look:

Yep, I think they first played that spot after the finale for Camelot. It's a very good teaser.

I was watching a couple of different Starz channels last night, and saw this promo at least three times.

There's definitely a big push for it. I've seen some print ads turn up as well.Patrick wrote:I was watching a couple of different Starz channels last night, and saw this promo at least three times.

Couldn't find a dodgy copy on YouTube either.
Re: Torchwood: Miracle Day - Pre transmission discussion
Well that was simply splendid. A really good opening episode and brilliant Q&A. We were asked not to post spoilers, so I won't. Just a few little teasers though.
Bill Pullman is truly evil
457 regulations
Info dump followed by Retcon.
The Severn Bridge.
And a few photos, staring off with one the Herbivore is thrilled with!

Re: Torchwood: Miracle Day - Pre transmission discussion
Here's a little report that I've knocked up.
Torchwood Premiere at BFI Southbank
If you're driving to The Southbank Centre, the Hayward Gallery car park is a hidden little gem. It offers a flat rate from 5pm to 1am, and is literally just a stone's throw from BFI Southbank. And so it was that on the evening of Monday 20th June we parked up in preparation for the premiere of episode one of the all new Torchwood Series, Miracle Day.
You know for sure that something’s going on when you see a milling throng of "Ming mongs" waiting outside the door, whilst inside RTD, Julie Gardner et al are doing their promotional darndest for a variety of media. There was certainly a fine turn out for the screening. The above mentioned Executive Producers were joined by Director of BBC Wales Keith Jones and Director of episode one Bharat Nalluri. The acting honours were extremely well represented with John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Bill Pullman (honest – Bill Pullman!), Kai Owen, Tom Price in attendance.
As we were asked not to post the plot on the internet I’ll happily comply. However, here are a few little teasers.
Bill Pullman’s character is truly evil
We hear a lot about the 456 regulations
There’s a big info dump, followed by the return of retcon.
The Severn Bridge!
I thought that the episode was a very promising start to what I’m optimistic will prove to be a really great series. Certainly the additional budget was there for all to see on the Gower peninsula.
The post transmission Question and Answer Session was superb, with Barrowman on top form, evidently very proud of the “Gay Bicycle” that he bought and used to get around the giant Warner Bros lot in LA. Apparently Coco from Fame unsuccessfully auditioned for a part – this revelation led John into giving us a hilarious impromptu dance. The very close relationship between JB and Eve Myles was very clear to see, while RTD came out with two Hooray’s and one Marvellous! Perhaps, inevitably, Bill Pullman didn’t get to say as much as the others, but he’s a legend so that’s fine.
So overall a really memorable evening. Here's looking forward to a really tremendous series.

Re: Torchwood: Miracle Day - Pre transmission discussion
Fair enough, Torchwood is one of the few series I don't like being spoilt so I tend to avoid spoilers. However, three aesthetic questions:The Co=Ordinator wrote:As we were asked not to post the plot on the internet I’ll happily comply.
- Does Miracle Day use the same Torchwood logo as the three previous series?
- Does Miracle Day use the same theme music as the three previous series?
- Does Miracle Day use the same embarrassingly short title series as the three previous series?
Thank you.
Re: Torchwood: Miracle Day - Pre transmission discussion
1. No, it's a bit different (I reckon 'cos it was only on screen for a few seconds)
2. I think it's a reworked version. So much applause over the end credits that I can't be short.
3. Still short but maybe a tad longer than before.
Sorry not to be more help Cat, but my focus on these issues wasn't 100%.

Re: Torchwood: Miracle Day - Pre transmission discussion
I'll be in a better position to answer this after the 7th, but from the promo spots I've seen on Starz, the Torchwood logo looks the same.

Re: Torchwood: Miracle Day - Pre transmission discussion
So UK transmission starts on Thursday 14th July. The major stakeholder, ie Starz, is clearly calling the shots!

So, more sex in the US versions, but the UK versions are longer. Meltdown in brain occurring over which one to watch.

I reckon you'll probably watch both Rich. If so, please make a note of the differences as I'll be sticking to what the BBC give us!
