C=O, I need you to watch this pendulum very carefully. See how it moves back and forth... back and forth... back and forth... ? Follow it with your eyes, and concentrate on the sound of my voice. You are beginning to feel tired. Oh, so very tired. You can hardly keep your eyes open now. Close them. Now, continue to concentrate on the sound of my voice. I want you to repeat after me: "There was no Moonraker. There was no Moonraker." When I count to three, you will awaken, and you will have no memory of every having seen Moonraker.
One...
Two...

To mark the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No, it seems THIS BOOK has just been released.

What's in the kindle edition that we haven't already seen here?
Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
A few revisions here and there, and an introduction. Sid also very kindly wrote a Foreward for me.

I've got it. I think I agreed with near enough every word you said when posted here and I'm looking forward to reading again.

Thanks, Johnstone.
And don't be shy about leaving the book a review on the Amazon page. Sid is very big on getting customer feedback.

I know Adele's song was released last week, but I haven't heard it yet, owing the conference I was at. I need to do a youtube search and give it a viewing.

Okay, I have heard the new theme song. And my abiding impression, for a reason I can't quite put my finger on, is that it reminds me on some level, as a song, to Shirley Bassey's theme song for Diamonds Are Forever. This isn't a bad thing- Shirley's voice can run rings around just about anyone. But Adele isn't quite Shirley at possessing a voice that can shake the rafters. Still, it is a nice sounding tune.
I wonder how much of the theme of "We will stand tall... together" is woven into the actual theme of Skyfall. Can't wait for Nov. 9th now!

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
Alright, next weekend (Friday the 26th, to be exact) marks the release date for Skyfall in the UK. And I expect there will be some of my fellow Wrinklies who will want to come and discuss the movie here in this thread. Please, go right ahead.
But I have a favor to ask. The film does not reach North American theaters for two weeks after the UK release. So, please, if you are going to post details from the movie, wrap your comments in spoiler tags. I really don't want to go into this movie having bits of the plot revealed to me ahead of time.

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
The Daily Mail has rated the movie as "the best bond film ever!", so the plot is obvious.
James Bond visits a number of exotic locations, on the trail of proof that Immigration causes cancer, cellulite and lowers property values. In a nailbiting finale, Bond assassinates the BBC.

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
To make up for it, news from the BBC is that Top Gear will be celebrating the stunts and the cars of the Bond movies.
It's going to be the best television program linked with Skyfall...<Clarkson> in the world</Clarkson>.

since it's a flimsy excuse to drive a classic Aston, and a classic Lotus, and since 007 is really only the wrapper to an episode of the car show...is it really a Bondshell?
Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
A true Top Gear review of the Bond vehicles would have to include:
- A 1961 Sunbeam Alpine Series 5 Sports Tourer convertible (Bond's rental car in Dr. No.)
- Bond's own Derby Bently Mark IV drophead (From Russia With Love)
- A 1964 Aston Martin DB5 (Goldfinger)
- Fiona Volpe's 1965 Ford Mustang (Thunderball) and, even though Bond never rode it, her BSA 650cc A65 Lightning motorcycle.
- A Toyota 2000GT (You Only Live Twice)
- Bond's 1969 Aston Martin DBS, Traci's 1969 Ford Mercury convertible, and Draco's Rolls-Royce Corniche Mulliner Park Ward Drophead Coupe (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)
- Bond's yellow Triumph Stag and Tiffany's 1971 Mach I "Fastback" Mustang (Diamonds Are Forever.) And let's be generous and count the moonbuggy, too. James May seems to like those.
- A load of Cadillacs (1973 Eldorado, 1973 Fleetwood) from Live And Let Die.
- A 1974 AMC Hornet X Hatchback Special Coupe (the one that performs the spiral loop jump,) and a 1974 AMC Matador X Coupe, which becomes an airplane (The Man With The Golden Gun).
- A Lotus Esprit Turbo that doubles as a submarine, and Jaws' battleship-gray Sherpa van. (The Spy Who Loved Me).
- There weren't really any cars of note in Moonraker, but we'll let James May talk about the space shuttle.
- More Lotus Esprit turbos, a Citroen 2CV, and a Mercedes Benz 280SE (For Your Eyes Only).
- The Auto Rickshaw Tuk-Tuk taxis and General Orlov's tire-lacking GAZ-24 Volga (Octopussy)
- A 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II, a 1984 Corvette, and a 1984 Renault 11 TXE, which somehow managed to work with no back end (A View To A Kill).
- 1987 5.3 liter Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante Series 2, and a cello case (The Living Daylights).
- A fleet of 18-wheel tanker trucks (Licence To Kill)
- A 1995 Ferrari F355 GTS, a 1995 BMW Z3 roadster, and a T-80BV Russian tank (GoldenEye)
- A 1997 BMW 750iL and a BMW 1200 C motorcycle (Tomorrow Never Dies)
- A 1999 BMW Z8 roadster, and Zukovsky's Rolls Royce Silver Shadow (The World Is Not Enough)
- An invisible 2002 Aston Martin V-12 Vanquish, Jinx's 2003 Ford Thunderbird, and Zao's Jaguar XKR (Die Another Day). It would be interesting to Clarkson and Hammond try to recreate that race on an frozen lake.
- A DBR9 Aston Le Mans racer (Casino Royale).
- And finally, a Range Rover Sport and a 2009 Ford Ka Mk-II (Quantum of Solace).
I think that ought to fill an hour of Top Gear.

Casino Royale also has the return of the DBV, if I recall correctly.
Your list means I have to go watch From Russia With Love again. Oh, woe is me etc, such torment...

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
Yes, yes, we know, Dave- please don't throw you in that briar patch.
Hey, favor to ask my fellow Wrinklies- those of you who have purchased a copy of my book, I would really, really appreciate it if you might find a couple of moments to post a review of it on Amazon. It would be good for activity rankings at Amazon, and I would definately love to hear what you folks have to say about it.
For those of you haven't purchased my book (And why not? It's less than you'll spend on lunch!) could you at least go to Amazon and click "Like" on the book's summary page? There's a link to the Amazon.com page in my signature below. Amazon uses the "likes" count to gauge how a book is trending, which determines what book comes up with someone does a search using a subject that's been "tagged."
Thanks much, everyone!
