Ladies and Gentlemen, and certain Cyber CO=Ordinators,
It gives me great pleasure to present our first glimpse of the next Bond film... SPECTRE.
Please, have a look:
I like it! How long until November gets here?

I really can't wait for this, it's looking very Blofeld-y.

They've certainly got the right actor for Blofeld. Chris Waltz is fantastic.

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
Alright, I know Spectre premieres in the UK tomorrow. I'm still struggling with the question of fairness that on my side of the pond, we get Spectre two weeks after you folks. So all I'm asking is you've seen the film and want to talk about it, please... please... put your comments in spoiler wraps! I don't want this movie spoiled for me.
Thank you kindly, fellow Wrinklies!

I have indeed. Although I don't even want to give you a bit of a review for fear of giving something away. I shall hold off until you've seen it too.

Much appreciated, Johnstone. I am hoping they've finally brought back the gun-barrel pre-credits opening.

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
It took until this morning before the websites for the theater chains would list the show times for Spectre when it opens Friday. I don't understand why that information was only made public two days before the premiere, but anyway, I was able to finally buy my tickets this morning. I am going to the 3:40 PM showing Friday afternoon (yes, I'm taking a half day off at work), and I chose this showing because it has one of the enormous, slightly curved, IMAX screens. Slightly more expensive ticket, but this was how I saw Skyfall, and I highly recommend the IMAX experience.

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
I have now seen Spectre. I won't brag about correctly guessing who the villain of the piece was two years before the movie hit theaters, but I am pleased my prediction was correct. Some general impressions:
1. Chris Waltz is the only person who could have played THAT part.
2. Not a fan of the title song. Falsetto voices just don't sound right to my ears.
3. You can tell this is a film that borrowed imagery and themes from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." And why not, given who the villain was.
4. Here's a spoilery bit about the end, and a prediction for the next film:
Bottom line for me, this film ticked all the boxes I hoped it would, and I really, really enjoyed it.

- Spoiler:
- What's the betting that Sam Mendez took a look at Peter Hunt's OHMSS commentaries, and decided to correct the error that film made at the end, by climaxing Spectre with Bond and Dr. Swann driving away all smiles and happiness, only to have Blofeld rudely interrupt their lives at the start of the next film, doing something that causes Dr. Swann to shed her mortal coil?
Bottom line for me, this film ticked all the boxes I hoped it would, and I really, really enjoyed it.

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
I think you're exactly right with point number 4. If Craig continues to be Bond I think the pre-titles sequence of the next film will be quite predictable but still spectacular.

I think he's contractually obligated to do one more, isn't he?

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
He's been saying in interviews recently that he'd rather not and there's been a lot of talk suggesting that Spectre could be his last. They're also already eyeing up Idris Elba as a replacement. That's an excellent choice but due to age it would have to happen in the next few years if he was to do anymore than one or two films.
Although I have heard that there's one film left on the contract and I certainly don't want to disagree with the man that literally wrote the book on Bond.

Re: Universal Exports - The James Bond Thread
Elba is not much younger than Craig, so you're right, we'd get only a couple of movies out of Elba if they're only being made once every 3 years.
Craig's comments about how he'd rather slash his wrists on broken glass than make another Bond movie certainly sound provocative and final. But Craig has a reputation for not mincing words, and let's face it, this was a tough shoot. He had to undergo surgery as a result of an injury he sustained while filming, and he's been quite open in the past about how hard he finds the workout schedule to get into shape to play Bond. Give him some time to enjoy fan reaction to the movie, the profits that come from being given a producer credit on the film, and a little bit of space and time away from the role, and I suspect he'll be back for one more.
