Rate Torchwood: Miracle Day Episode 4: "Escape To LA"

Just to recap- Oswald Danes was spotted at PhiCorp Pharmaceuticals, and Jack went to confront him.  The organization behind the triangle logo on the mobile phone Rex confiscated from his former boss are on the hunt for Torchwood, and Rex has found renewed faith in the organization.  And Jilly appears to be playing a game all her own.

Torchwood must now go mobile and head for the west coast.  So what did you think of Episode 4?  This thread will remain locked until after North American transmission of the episode on STARZ network, approximately 11:00 PM Eastern Time.

I knew it! I knew there was something important to that organization represented by the rotating triangle, and that they weren't PhiCorp. There is another hand in play, and why they've singled out Jack is the big question.

And there's something about seeing Oswald Danes hold up a baby like that I find uber-creepy.

I gave last night's episode a 4.

Another 4 from me as well. Very interested in the connection to Jack's past.

Gwen continues to get the best lines. Her adoption of a California accent was quite fun to watch.

Much better than last week, actually feeling some threat and menace about the whole thing now. Not-Sarah Palin's non-demise was pretty horrific, too.

An improvement on episode 3. Gwen's accent thing was superb and the sight of Ellis Hartley Monroe's eye in the crushed car was quite chilling.

However, after the promise of episode 1, the story is still dragging. It's clear to me that if this was solely a BBC Production it would have been 5 or 6 x 60 minute episodes. 3/5.

I've watched to episode 5 and have rather felt it would have been better as a much tighter five episode series. I might not even watch the rest as I'm now watching the brilliant The Killing (Danish version) and five nights a week of that rather takes up one's viewing time.

Stick with it, Andrea. Beginning with Episode 6, the story really begins to pick up momentum.

I have to say it's really hard to. But I will, one way or another, do my very best hang on in there till the end - even if it is somewhat in arrears.

I'm not entriely sure about the long term future of the show though. Seems to me that Children of Earth was something very, very special that, in reality, couldn't be matched.

You have a valid point, but then Children of Earth had the advantage of being able to focus on the destruction of the Torchwood team. Miracle Day has the harder task of creating a new team, and having them go through the whole "forming/storming/norming/performing" cycle that any group has to go through.

There's also the problem in Miracle Day of not having a *base*. Even if the Hub was destroyed in CoE, it provided both a focal point and a raison d'aitre.
