Marco Polo or Ralph Lauren?

A sprawling epic across the roof of the world. Or, as it was otherwise known, Studio D Lime Grove.
What do you think of the fourth ever Doctor Who story?

Re: Rate "Marco Polo"
I've seen the reconstruction on the In The Beginning box set, and I've seen some fantastic colour photos from it, and it starred Alan Bradley of Rita and Tram fame, so I'll give it a 4. A 5, perhaps, if I'd seen it!

Re: Rate "Marco Polo"
I seem to recall that Lucarotti did a good job. Just consider the narrative potential compared to Lime Grove!
I'm only giving Marco Polo a 3 though. I was very young, and it dragged on for too long.

We could go round Levine's house and watch his copy.

Well, it sounded good...
Guess we'll have to fire up the TARDIS and take a trip back to when it aired.

Novelisation only for me.
Some lovely moments and a great read, so a solid 4 for me.

Re: Rate "Marco Polo"
Another one who only has the novel to go by, and I recall very little of that to be honest. I'm going to give it a 3 for ambition, and also for having Babs in.
Re: Rate "Marco Polo"
If you're going to do that, do it properly. Anything with Ian'n'Babs gets a '5'. Anything with Adric gets -20. Anything with Dodo causes the time-space continuum to implode due to the sheer size of the negative integer.

Re: Rate "Marco Polo"
I have an advantage over most of you in that I have seen it.
That advantage is wiped out by the fact that I don't really remember watching it. Nor do I remember the Target novel although I have read it.
I will vote 4 as I have a vague feeling that I did enjoy it - and it does have that Ian and Barbara factor.

Well, I've listened to it (is that cheating?) and thought it was alright. A (somewhat fortunate) 4/5.

Re: Rate "Marco Polo"
I've got the Loose Canon reconstruction of it, and put it on some time back thinking I'd just try an episode or two. Considering that it's seven episodes and none if it exists I was surprised when less than four hours later I'd watched all of it! This is a brilliant story, and is my first ten out of ten of the series so comfortably in the five class. It's top of my list of wished-for finds.
I enjoyed it so much I decided to watch Keys of Marinus straight after. That didn't go down anywhere near as well!

Re: Rate "Marco Polo"
Add me to the list of the never-having-seen-it crowd. Read the Target novelization, though. Can I rate on the basis of how good a read it was?
