finally got round to seeing this on DVD.

bit of a curates egg- some "hilarious" chinese racism, lots of people dancing, stratford johns as a giant frog, some nice sets, awful music, dodgy space walk scene and matthew waterhouse.

nonetheless i have very fond memories of the first Davison series and i still quite enjoyed this.

I gave it a one. Grudgingly. It's as dull as Bidmead...

1/5.

Haven't seen this for a while, but I remember it as a story with some great ideas (eg an alien trying to travel back in time to meet himself as God), but a very flat, dull story.

And I can distinctly remember the three companions really irritating me. If I was the Doctor, and Adric and Tegan acted as they did in this story, I'd have chucked them out of the TARDIS airlock at the first opportunity. With relish. Very Happy

I think this story was hurt by the fact that it was the first one produced, even before Castrovalva. I think Davison was still feeling his way into the part, and wasn't being given a whole lot of help.

I like the set designs, but the story itself just seemed to miss the mark. I gave it a two.
