Yes, it's an odd thought.

The question I have now is was Moffat telling the truth when he said Capaldi was on a shortlist of one auditioned, or were others (Ben Daniels, for instance) considered?

I never believe anything Moffat says!

Studio tours of Roath Lock are available until 25th August, which suggests that filming of the Christmas Special will indeed start shortly afterwards.

There's a bit of speculation around that Smith may actually leave in the Anniversary Special, and that's he's not coming back for any more filming.

If the rumors are correct, the title of the Anniversary special is "The Day Of The Doctor."

I just want you to know that BBC America has decided to use the BBC's own advertising/promotional campaign for the 50th Anniversary Special. We are getting exactly the same "Save The Day" messages on this side of the Atlantic. I'm guessing that the Sunday afternoon ratings for the world-wide live announcement of Peter Capaldi's casting convinced them that they didn't really need to spend money on marketing Doctor Who when the BBC can do it for them.

We could be looking at 7.45pm GMT, 2.45pm EST transmission for the Anniversary Special.

Is it going to be transmitted live around the world, the same way Peter Capaldi's casting was at the beginning of August?

75 countries apparently. So you'll be able to watch it on the Saturday lunchtime. Bloody disgrace if you ask me, it should be kept from you for at least 2 years.

Yes, but I believe BBC content is geographically restricted.

I have never used iTunes previously, so I genuinely don't know. I have used Hulu before, and with the exception of Downton Abbey (an ITV production, IIRC) there is very little current BBC content.
